I have used the word "truth" because we dont know the truth !
I know this blog doesn't help to understand what will clearly be the DLC
but at least, the blog owner has corrected his previous claims.
That is why I created the thread :

I doubt it will boost sales significantly. Most GTA gamers won't know/care about this sort of thing.

my point excacly, we have no idea what kind of content the dlc gta will bring to the fold, we can only guess right now. I doubt it will make such a huge difference on which platform we should buy the real game.

at 50 million dollars its gotta be huge. Seriously, uncharted cost 20 million to make. I'm sure 50 million covers all the costs of at least 1 version of the game. They must be making some big content.

If you own both an Xbox 360 and a PS3 there is no doubt you should purchase the 360 version, as it will be the only complete GTAIV. OR alternatively, it will be the only version that receives the equivalent of GTAIV SA and GTAIV VC.

The question is whether or not MS can show enough of the market that own neither console that they have the only complete GTAIV.

I wonder how much GTA 4 COST THEN if the extra content is worth so much ? or is Microsoft payin that money for just having to say they have extra content PS3 doesnt have ?

Personally, I don't think this will do that much for Microsoft. I expect GTA IV to sell like most multi-platform games - higher sales on the 360 but proportionally the same when you look at the installed base. It'll probably look a lot like Call of Duty 4, only with higher numbers.

That $50 million that Microsoft spent will only look like a good investment if they sell enough of the DLC to make a profit - which is entirely plausible considering the popularity of GTA. Now if only Microsoft would stop using those stupid fucking points and just let me buy that stuff straight-out.

Actually, I'm kinda torn on GTA IV. I hate the way Microsoft is going about this, paying money to make one version inferior. It bugs the hell out of me and I kinda want to buy the PS3 version just to spite them. Additionally, both of my roommates own PS3s but no 360s. If I want to play the MP aspect of the game with them, I'd have to get the PS3 version... at the same time, it seems likely to me that if one version performs better than the other, then it'll be the 360 version. And that's what'll probably make my choice for me.

 I'm contemplating the PS3 version, for reasons located two posts above... why are you definitely getting the PS3 version (just curious)?
