Forums - Nintendo - How long will it take Mario Kart 8 to dethrone WWHD from #1 on the NA eshop rankings?

How long until MK8 is KING of NA eshop (overall, not recent)?

Less than 2 weeks 30 47.62%

Between 2-4 weeks 6 9.52%

1-2 months 10 15.87%

3-4 months 3 4.76%

5-6 months 1 1.59%

7-8 months 0 0%

9-10 months 0 0%

11-12 months 0 0%

More than a year 1 1.59%

Never! Everyone buying mk... 12 19.05%

Total:63

It's in the title people! Let's speculate! I don't really know what other regions look like, but here in the U.S. (or all of North America???) WWHD has been #1 on downloads for a LONG time (lifelong, not just "recent," though it is currently #3 in recent so it's still doing incredible). How long will it take for MK 8 to dethrone it in digital downloads in NA? Or will it (maybe most of those early buyers will download WWHD for free which would surely make it skyrocket as well on the shop charts). Let's have some fun!

Might take a while since you can get WWHD for free with MK8 and out of the games selection, if people don't already have WWHD, they will probably choose that one

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Less than two weeks. Mario Kart 8 will be a monster.

If I had to guess, somewhere between now, and never.

More than what people are saying. Wind Waker got about an 8 month head start.

1 month.

Might take a little longer than most people think.

For those that purchased the WWHD bundle, the game does not come inside the box but contains a download code...hence it getting a larger than usual share of downloads.

3-4 months.

Anyone know how many WW bundles were produced and sold?

No way to really know.   The closest you can come is by using info Nintendo has given on digital purchases of the game (provided they've given any) and comparing that against the average digital purchase rate for games like it.   The difference may tell us roughly how many were part of the bundle.

But that's still leaving a huge margin of error.
