I think this is a great move by Sony - honestly, wish Nintendo did the same - but i don`t think that it outdoes Nintendo`s E3 show.

Nintendo will have it`s own Smash fest with people watching. It will also have Smash nationwide for players to try it out.
In terms of the actual presentation, no one knows what this Digital Event is.

Overall, i still think Nintendo has the best "presentation" for the E3 period, that i have seen in a while.

I'll stick to my sofa to watch E3.

Besides it's not like the cinema is going to be full of chicks... worse, it's probably going to be full of sweaty nerds.

lol im not geeky enough to go watch a E3 conference in a cinema.

I am and I will. I registered for her in Jacksonville. While there is more convenience watching at home but I like the idea I am watching with other gamers and we can share our thoughts together in the announcements. When I am at home, its all to myself. I could go online and post my thoughts but I never found it easy to run into gamers in my daily life. My gaming conversation tend to lead solely to the internet since most people I know don't play video games and those that do have no interest in conversating about them. I think this would be a cool experience but that is just how big of a geek you could say I am :)

LOL for me its just weird as some of the gamers are just plain weird. When Wii launched I went to the midnight launch. It was the weirdest experience ever. Circles of randoms sitting together playing on their DS. It felt like an electronic woodstock lol.

Since that time I haven't gone to any midnight launch.

I don't go to any midnight launches anymore myself because I buy every game on Amazon now. The Wii was the last launch console I picked up on day 1. Everyone there was pretty chill. I part of me want to be a part of something grand as cheesy as it might be or sound. I can't go to E3 but this is going to give me something personal out of E3 not everyone can get if they want to or not.

EDIT: Last one I picked up in a store since I bought both the PS4 and XB1 on day one.

I wonder how much money they spent on doing this since all of that money could have went into game development or a legitimate strategy to save the vita... Like its cool what they are doing but I am sure that most of the people will watch it at home anyway

Sure you can watch the stream online, but the theatre is the closest experience a normal fan, who isn't part of the press or industry will have to actually attend the event in "person", plus its free, so if its close one might as well go.
There is a difference between hearing an audience and being part of one. Even if they are both watching the same stream.
