Not really sure calling it out for not being revolutionary is a valid criticism, but it sounds like a fun game. Thinking 80-85 meta

In their summary they like: (Google Translate lol)

The density of Chicago and its contents.
The online game in the single player campaign.
The rise of Aiden's skills
The mix between piracy, infiltration and action.
The original online game ...

And they don't like:

Pushed ... but not enough.
The scenario behind.
The enemy AI undeveloped.
The music and sounds pretty generic.
The bourrinage which sometimes seems to pay more than the infiltration and piracy.
Aiden and his lack of charisma.

8 is a pretty good score but its not amazing! I wonder how it will do in the coming weeks since so far, its all over the place, some having nice feedback while others having shit feedback. Maybe a day 1 patch will remove a lot of the issues?

It's not a bad score, but it isn't good considering the amount of hype they generated before the delay. Definitely passing on this game unless I get it real cheap, or even free in the future.

I hate reviews that give a game a lower score because it isn't revolutionary enough for their standards. A good game is a good game in my book. It doesn't have to change the whole formula to be great.

I was worried it was going to be too much action based but it's a good mix of both like the review suggests then I do think I'll pick it up sometime.

8 is a good score.

And besides that's only one review.

Let's see what GameSpot will say about it tomorrow

Oh no, is it gonna be another game that loses points for not being "innovative" or "revolutionary" enough? That's the absolute WORST complaint you can have about a game, what the hell is up with this obsession with "innovation"? Give me a break.

It pisses me off to no end.

You can't evaluate games in a vacuum, like any other medium.  Doing something for the fourth, fifth, tenth, or twentieth time isn't going to have the same appeal as it did the first.  Surprising and innovating is a key part to making a game exceptional.
