Absolute rubbish, Makelele was praised by players like Zidane and Figo at Real for holding teams together his job was not to attack do you even know what roles certain players do? That's actually a good point. When you're running at a high speed and someone puts his leg in front of your legs the natural reaction is to jump to avoid getting hit and sometimes that looks like a dive when it's just the player anticipating the hit and reacting before he gets hit. This is not saying that all dives are like that, but in some cases players dive because they're afraid of getting hurt.

If you don't know what happened at the mesón Txistu in 2003 and its consequences you have no idea why he got praised by Zidane and Figo.

"His job is not to attack" False. His primary role is to help his teammates in defensive duties. That doesn't mean that he must suck at attacking (like he did), and by attacking I don't mean scoring. Against a team like Greece that was not going to attack his skills were useless, and his shortcomings crippled the team.

Nedved got injured in the first half and Greece scored near the end of the first half of the extra time (m. 100-105). Google it or do whatever you want but it's not as you say.

 

EDIT - Forget that, let's make it simple: Do you think a modern team needs a player like Makelele in it's starting 11 to be sucessful?
