Welp, Premier League clubs just voted to close the transfer window early from next season

Such a stupid move, while they wont be able to sign any players clubs from other countries can still sign players for about 2 weeks. It will also probably inflate prices even more because everyone knows English clubs will be rushing to get things done.

They rush to get things done now. Only difference is that they want to do this so stuff like Courtinho or Sanchez are resolved before the season starts as the clubs want to get on with the season. Not have to worry about who might move where 3 weeks later.

Hmm, pie.

I actually think it makes since. I don't know why they have transfers 2 weeks into the season instead of before the season starts.

Well I assume the main reason was simply that it fell in line with the majority of other leagues. But there's also the possibility to start the season, do crap in your first couple games and think "we really need to make some changes to our team if we want to stay in this league" or stuff like that.

2 games is such a small sample size that it that it would seem very harsh fo get rid of a player that soon. It would be like sacking a manager after just 2 games.

I agree, but it should be the same for all UEFA members. It's about that time instead of each country freely setting their transfer window the UEFA sets 1 transfer window for the entire content with maybe some exceptions, such as Norway because their league is played at a different time. Just have the transfer window open the day after the Champions League final (I think that's the final match of the season) and close somewhere mid-August on a Thursday, with all European leagues starting the following Friday or weekend.

Buying a new player to invigorate the team and to help them perform better isn't really the same as getting rid of a player. Whoever it is they're replacing will likely still play, albeit in a reduced capacity or in a different position.

Besides... sacking a manager after just 2 games is hardly unheard of

Being a manager has got to be the most stressful job. They are usually the scapegoat.

Seeing people say it isn't a red because there isn't any intent or because he only has his eyes on the ball, lol give me a fucking break. He's putting Ederson's health at risk, that's all it takes for it to be a red. Also, he definitely didn't have his eyes just on the ball because otherwise he wouldn't raise his leg like that, you don't raise your leg like that when there's nobody near you, you wait for the ball to get closer to the ground. He definitely saw Ederson coming out of his goal and decided that it was worth risking injuring him.

Agreed, especially the price inflation. Foreign clubs can just be like "we want (insert crazy high number here), if you're not willing to pay that we've got another 2 weeks to wait for other clubs to offer it so..."

I think it's the smaller clubs who have opted for this mainly as they get picked apart by the top half of the PL table but don't get as much attention from the elite in Europe.

Is that why there was so much additional time? I turned on the TV and was shocked to see 8 added minutes.
