Forums - Nintendo - Can the Wii U achieve "modest" sales

Ok ive seen a thread or two doing the rounds about how Nintendo can turn things around with Wii U. You then get the usual "it will never happen", "Wii U is doomed" etc. but i do believe modest sales and success can be achieved. Sales in the region of 20-25 million a la Gamecube are not an impossible feat, even after the disastrous start Wii U has had. Mario Kart 8 seems to have created a buzz among gamers which will hopefully help shift units, but its almost as pleasing to see how a few screenshots and snippets of Hyrule Warriors has caused a stir, especially in Japan. The digital direct will hopefully show off some interesting exclusives which have good gamepad use, a killer Zelda U trailer and throw up a surprise or two was well. Nintendo could very well end this gen on a positive note, most importantly be profitable, have a great library of exclusive games and have momentum going into the next gen. Its not great coming off the back of the mega successful Wii, but its not all doom and gloom. What are your thoughts?

MK8 will be the driving force ( no pun intended), but i think the digital event will be a telling factor,Its imperative they deliver.

i think as long as they keep getting games out there with great advertising which will lead up to awareness then it can possibly sell 20 million or more

All these threads are a little pointless, because we are soon to find out if this is true.
Nintendo has 3 big hitters, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Zelda next year.
If they fail, the only thing remaining would be a console pokemon game.

Being positive, Nintendo only needs an install base of 30 millions for their franchises to be big selling hits.

I totally agree for the 100th time. The Wii U is a powerhouse going by certain developers. The games that Nintendo has in store for Wii U owners is of the best. Most definitely!

The point of my thread isnt Nintendo turning the Wii U into a sales beast, but to highlight that whilst it has been struggling, it is not impossible to make good of a bad situation. I believe Wii U is still relevent to this gen, whilst others are writing it off.
