Forums - Sony - Kaz Hirai "Its now or never"

It really is now or never. I'm hoping the PlayStation brand will not die with Sony but I would rather they didn't go under at all.

People are acting like Sony is going to die within 2 years lol. They can continue bleeding money for 20 years until they actually start getting in trouble. They aren't the size of Nintendo. They can get 72 billion for some of their assets and the company would still run fine.

Kaz seems more worried than the average users on VGC.

Anyway, I have never seen a CEO of a big company talk like that.
Is this a first?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Probably, but if they continue to plummet in the markets and whatnot, that will most likely begin to affect the PlayStation brand.

But they can continue to sell buildings if it doesn't work out right guys?

They actually can. They have 149.18 billion in assets still. Nintendo has like 1/10 of that. They can keep bleeding for another 20 years until they are actually in trouble.

I guess you convienantly left out the 126 billion in liabilities they have, lol.

Their assets may be grossly overstated too in value ... for example I have no doubt their TV division carries a high asset number (and employs a lot of people, involves a lot of factories, etc.), but who in their right mind is going to pay good money for that division? *crickets*

Honestly I want to see them merge with Nintendo to be the fastest amount of money bleeding the world has ever known.

Honestly I like all of sony's products sad to see them doing so bad even if I don't support their consoles.

Consoles: 3DS, Wii U, and Vita soon. Super Paper Mario fan.

He says it in the OP. He wants the company to keep growing and making money and for that to happen he has to take action. Average users honestly don't care because they aren't a major person at said company like a CEO.

Last time I read, the OP was about Kaz Hirai's strategy going forward with Sony. I don't think what random forum dwellers say or think about the company's financial future should have any bearing on the discussion.

Keep it on topic guys. Thanks.

Hear hear. Spemanig, celador, and veritaz are the points of interest here. Let's keep it clean.

And they have 8.08 billion cash on hand. I left out a lot of things, I'm not here you teach people everything. Edit: Going to stop right here, going off topic too much.

Lol, I wish I was joking.

Lol, no one ever said that.

What many are saying is that while Sony may go bankrupt the PlayStation brand (as the biggest and most popular in gaming) will survive and frankly that's the only thing that counts in a gaming context. Of course it's a bummer for the employees that lose their jobs.

Yes people have, and I think you misunderstand how things like this work. The Playstation brand wouldn't just walk off on it's own and be fine if Sony went under. It wouldn't "be fine." It would need a new source of income, and someone willing to invest the billions of dollars it takes to keep the brand moving. Even if someone was actually make that kind of monetary commitment, and it would take years, they'd have their own agenda that may not be in line with Playstation fans. And that's if the division wasn't auctioned off in parts. Sony flopping would be desasterous for Playstation.

Sony computertainment is already a private held LLC, its  not for public buy in!
