People are really under estimating mk 8 ive seen 4 commercials so far on tv for it and kids at schools have been talking about it

A 120 k in one month is a joke thats 30k it would sell a week...

I'd say ~90% of people who buy it already have a Wii U, similar to how Titanfall did for XB1.

The Wii U sold 106,986 units WW the first week that SM3DW was released. SM3DW's preorders were at 96,619 in the U.S. during it's final week. That was during the holiday season when sales are usually up.

By comparison, Mario Kart 8 is currently at 175,476 preorders in the U.S. with 3 weeks left. I expect it to be at at least 240,000 preorders during it's final week. That's more than double what SM3DW was doing, but I don't think hardware sales will match or surpass holiday numbers.

It sounds crazy, but it is possible, majorly thanks to Europe, a market study(even if conducted by Nintendo and all the bias that may be behind it)in France, said that there were around 10 million gamers were potentially interested in Mario Kart 8, sure alot of them are probably no longer interested or may not go buy out the game immediately, but even if a bit of those 10 million go and buy a Wii U along the game, it can easily reach over 700k on that week.

Edit: KoopaKid reminded me something, graduations will also be around this time in certain places, so there will be also be some good amount of Wii U sold in that movement of graduation gifts, afterall Nintendo have been advertizing already, so kids should be aware of the game.

Nintendo only started the marketing 1~2 weeks ago, so the marketing push is not bigger than say, mario 3D world. Besides, nintendo stuff generally don't have a great start and them drop like a rock. They even said that they intend to market the game the whole year, So, don't expect a huge difference on first month. Rather, expect it to appear on top 10 every slow week in some areas of the globe.

But yeah, 700K people will buy it only for this game, just not on the first month.

I think 300-420k WW is a safe bet, but i'll be glad if it were 500k+
