I wish the main campaign was actually like that. It would've actually been enjoyable then.

You don't but I can't help but to feel shafted that I have to buy incomplete games with Day 1 Season Passes, knowing that if I want the full experience I will have to pay more money down the road. I don't have to buy the DLC if I don't want to, but then I have a gimped game that is incomplete. It's like buying a movie, and the company selling it to you takes out some important scenes, and tells you to buy them seperately. Yes, I will complain about it, because that's how change happens. If the community isn't vocal and just lies down and pretends that everything is perfectly fine, companies wil feel no need to change their practices. |
How is shadowfall gimped or incomplete?

They held out a co-op mode, for one. Also there are new perks and modes only avaiable for those who pay for the extra content. The base game sounds pretty incomplete to me.

The Co-Op mode was not started until after the game released, and the weapons were not added until the community asked for them. Go look it up. I was actually the one who created the player voice request for more weapons. Some people really need check their facts before they open their mouth.

Only people who suck at the genre prefer co op..... ...yeah. I prefer co op on FPS and TPS games too. I'm j/k with this post. |
Someone who sucks at 1st person shooters reporting in!
Can confirm, prefer co-op.

I know that, but they had obviously started plans for DLC just by offering a season pass, and gameplay DLC and weapon/perk DLC is gameplay and offering that at a price is terrible, even worse than offering map packs at a price. You may like to pay $80 for a practically annual franchise to be able to keep up with the rest of the community, but a lot of people don't want to spend that kind of money on a mediocre game, especially when $20 can get you loads of games now.

Oh, gotcha, sorry for the mistake. I agree with expansion packs for some games (like World of Warcraft, Starcraft, etc) where the developers put a ton of work into the game because the game is going to last a long time in terms of lifespan. I just don't support it for yearly franchises. |
I know what you mean man. But for cases like WoW they charge you $15 a month. So isnt that like the same thing?
Btw great profile pic and gifs.

Thanks :)
And yeah, I stay away from monthly subs as well, but MMOs of the scale of WoW tend to need a lot of money for server costs (though $15 per month is highway robbery). I think that the Guild Wars 2 model is still the best (pay once, and then never again), but the playing field is so different with MMOs in terms of economics I tend to just stay away. Stil ripping the customer off quite a bit, but better than Day 1 DLC as at least part of that money goes towards server costs.

The maps are free, so no the community does not become fragmented. Honestly I just dismissed you when I read "Practically annual" franchise. Game release years: 2004, 2009, early 2011, late 2013. Even if you throw in the spin-off games (Which don't have season passes anyways, nor even come close to counting), it is clearly not annual. Thank you for perfectly illustrating my point of poeple who don't know what they are talking about. Have a nice thread.

Every 2 years of main releases, and spin offs pretty much every year that are in many ways games of their own. Sounds annual to me.
