The game is pulling ahead of Mario Kart 7 in COMG, even if that came out in Holidays and the 3DS had a bigger install base, MK8 has also been doing quite well in Amazon JP, though the Rosalina card SKU is not doing as hot as the other 2, it still is doing quite nice. So I'm going to say it will go open with:

Meanwhile, I'll say that hardware will be at 100k, though I actually expect it to be higher than that, I don't want to sound too crazy.

On topic: I'll go with 222k. Previous Wii U game debuts haven't been all that hot, but MK8 is on track to put better than embarrassing numbers on the scoreboard.

Ok I'm going to say 255k opening week in Japan. I'm basing this on the Double Dash and MK Wii opening numbers sort of in between. All of these games came out in the second of the console life so I think that fact will result in sales figure in between the other two for MK 8.
