Forums - Gaming - I am so hyped that Google bought Quest Visual (Good news for import lovers!)

Especially for Japanese this would be horrible. It would destroy any experience.
I'd rather continue learning it than let me show weird and false interpretations.
For some other languages this would be fine.

Except not all of us have the time to fully learn Kanji and Kana. I know a little, but that's it. Google translate is being improved all the time, and even a rough translation is better than no translation.

This sure has some interesting implications but personally I can't be happy for Google buying anything or expanding in any other way either. Google ten years ago: "Do no evil." Google today: "Do evil."

Google has been one of the most open and innovative companies this generation.

Sure, can't deny that. I just don't like their privacy policy and what they're doing with people's data. Also, Google+.

No. Names alone would ruin this. Not to mention the rest of the quirks.

Also I'm pretty sure everybody has 15 minutes every day to spend. Most people just don't have the commitment.

Seriously learning Kanji and /or Kana would take you years if you did only 15 minutes a day. And I'm sure I can live if it translates the names incorrectly, as long as I get the general meaning of what's going on. If you think it ruins the game, don't use it, plain and simple.

Let's just hope they'll use all that know-how also to improve Google Translate faster than MS shills sabotage it contributing with blatantly wrong translations (although even with their best efforts they aren't able to make it worse than Bing )
