Forums - Nintendo - My fellow Nintendo fans, are you happy with the way Nintendo is handling the Wii U?

The Wii U is failing because...

...it is a piece of trash. 60 21.90%

...Nintendo isn't doing anything. 149 54.38%

See results (secret vote for option 1). 63 22.99%

Total:272

I'm not 100% happy (the lack of third party support is a killer for it), but I'm looking forward to this year's library of games on the Wii U far more than the games being released on the PS4. I haven't really touched my PS4 in the last few weeks because of Wind Waker HD and some PS3 games. I have no doubt that once things pick up on the PS4 it'll become my console of choice, but for now the Wii U easily has the best selection of games, and in the end, that's all that really matters.

Their games are spectacular, but the droughts and delays needs to stop.

And giving us release dates for games other than Mario Kart 8 wouldn't go amiss either.

I csn say I am truly happy with my purchase. I got nine games already, and seven more this year I know I am going to get. (Kart, Smash, Watch Dogs, Bayo 2, Hyrule Warriors, Transformers, and X), Then add some of the maybes like Advanced Warfare if it comes out for the wii u, and One Piece and wait for the announcements of some games I want next year like Zelda and Fatal Frame.

So because its sales are low it is trash?

Lots of people love it. That is like saying anything that is not popular is trash.

You have it backwards. Its sales are low because it is trash.

Don't take it to heart.

Then you really haven't answered his question, why is it trash?

I'm not entirely sure what they're trying to do with their new strategy, so I'm not sure.

No, It's because of the terrible game drought and delays that ruined most people's interest in the system.

BEFORE Titanfall, which is STILL high up in sales charts, the Wii-U and the Xbox One had VERY similiar sales. When Mario Kart LAUNCHES the Wii-U will ALSO have a game in the top of chart and will likely ALSO increase that far RESULTING in them having similiar sales AGAIN.

Oh! Lol okay, I understand.

I really hate to keep dragging this on but what is your take on that possibility in light of, you know, me actually making my argument coherent?

I do think that's it's still optimistic in light of the recent price drop. Nintendo can't do another price cut, so that nice $200 difference it had will only be around for like 10 days after MK8 comes out before the XBO get's it's own inevitable sales boost because of the $100 drop. Perhaps if at E3 Nintendo announces a steady stream of summer releases, the Wii U will have a chance, but I just don't see that happening.

I am. the wii-u is better than the Wii, so thats good enough for me. I was so annoyed at how many BAD games were on wii, and how long i had to wait for quality nintendo games. I already have a zelda, donkey kong, pikmin, 2 marios, mario kart around the corner and smash bros by the end of this year. The virtual console is already better than it was 2 years in on the wii as well.
the struggling sales imo are all media related. If the media had pumped the wii and would stop bashing it for not being a PC under the hood, and accept it for what it is, with potential to do something unique with the gamepad (and wii motes if they chose) the 3rd party games would be there.

I can see where you're coming from, I suppose the big difference is I don't think it is that unlikely that Nintendo can pull off one punch a month for six months based on our current knowledge of their line-up. A large number have been in development a good while and if Nintendo intend to 'pull a 3DS' they know how to, and it starts with a Mario Kart.

That said Nintendo have one advantage over Microsoft, for many PS4 and PC gamers, and perhaps even Xbox One gamers, the Wii U still holds a good chance of becoming a stellar second-console. Free online and off-screen play are pretty excellent tools for such a role, as well as the likelihood of a few stellar games that offer unusual (and/or " Legendary") experiences.

That's true, but second consoles don't typically hold second place by that virtue alone. I'd love to see the Wii U pull through though.
