I don't think they'd wait that long. If they announce it at E3 (which I think they will), it will be available this holiday.

I doubt they'd wait that long, hence my final statement.

However, it would be best if they waited till 2015. If they release it too soon then 2015 could possibly be a disastrous year. Releasing it later will help the legs of the 3DS a ton. It's the better choice.

Well at this point I personally don't care about the original 3DS, if a person goes out to buy a 3DS today, either go all in and get a 3DS XL, or save money and buy a 2DS, if you're just planning to play a couple of games.

What is the price point of the 2DS vs. original 3DS out in the world? Here I'm living the 3DS is barely any more expensive than a 2DS so it's pointless to buy a 2DS.

Yep.

I guess they will introduce 2DS XL.

3dsi with a non shitty camera! Go go go

I couldn't care less about the camera quality, but thinking about the camera... if they reposition the camera from the top to the side(s), the upper screen could get way bigger. Something like that:

Additional unique selling point: 3D-selfies ;)

Nintendo did say that there would be no hardware announcements at E3. The original 3DS is in desperate need of a redesign as it's clunky and looks anything but slick and elegant.

What would a 3DS lite even be like? Smaller, better battery life, better camera, better speakers..redesign on grip/buttons/comfort/feel of 3DS when using it?

At the very least, a redesign should be significantly slimmer and therefore lighter. Battery life needs to be improved as with speakers. I don't think they should bother too much with improving the camera since its pretty much useless in terms of gameplay and functionality and would only increase costs. They need to make this thing look a bit more contemporary in terms of aesthetics and not something out of the 1990's.

The GBA SP ain't THAT old! ;) And I loved its hinged brick-design in 2003/2004, but nowadays I prefer the curvier 3DS-XL-design over the (3)DS with its straight lines.
