Forums - Sales - How well do you think X/Bayonetta 2/Hyrule warriors will sell?

Sadly for X, none of them will sell well. Bayonetta 2 was a bad investment from the start so I dont think they will pump more money into marketing for it. They will do the bare minimum for it. Hyrule warriors is just dynasty warriors with a zelda skin. I dont think you will see Nintendo promoting it very much either as I think it will probably meta in the low 70's.

X is going to be a great game, and has the potential for great sales, but sadly nintendo wont promote it outside of japan.

So, morale of the story is Nintendo isnt going to give any of these games the marketing campaign they need to have blockbuster sales. Like the op said, I think the ceiling for all these titles is 1 million, they wont sell more than that, and likely to sell much worse...

I won't comment on Hyrule Warriors or Bayonetta 2, but I think that after what happened with Xenoblade, Nintendo realized that there is demand for these games in the West, and the fact that they have used it in its biggest directs is proof that they want people to notice it.

So no, I think you're wrong about "X" and Nintendo will promote it in every market. I'd be surprised if "X" is not the best selling of the three games.

nintendo learning from past mistakes?  I don't know... they don't do that very often...

No idea re Bayonetta and Hyrule Warriors- But I think X will sell close to or %10+/- better than Monster Hunter 3U- If Nintendo decides to invest in effective target marketing for X then maybe it can hit close to 1 mill lifetime but I don t see Nintendo marketing it much

people forgot about Xenoblade. Only because Nintendo it didn't reach 1mil+. Probably X will be close or pass LT. Bayo2 I don't know. If Vgcharts pre-orders means anything I bet 100k FW in USA, and maybe 700k LT WW. Hyrule Warriors will pass 1mil easily.

We talk about LT sales here not FW.

True, Nintendo doesn't seem to learn as often as it should, but I think this time they have done it.

Worse than they deserve but better than expected. I'll say 600k-900k.

I see people still post unrealisticaly low numbers... I guess they really love crows...

My estimation;
Bayonetta 2 min - 700K max - 2mil lifetime
Hyrule Warriors min - 500K max - 1.5mil lifetime
X min - 1mil max - 2.5mil lifetime

For reference:

Xenoblade

1 Xenoblade Chronicles Wii 2010 Role-Playing Nintendo 0.40 0.23 0.16 0.07 0.86

I doubt X sells better in a lower installbase.

Bayonetta

1 Bayonetta PS3 2009 Action Sega 0.41 0.36 0.21 0.15 1.13
2 Bayonetta X360 2009 Action Sega 0.49 0.23 0.09 0.08 0.89

Bayo2 won't reach 1M, and it will be a miracle to reach X360 sales.

Hyrule Warrios is a wild card.

@Pavolink

You doubt? Okay, look... Xenoblade Chronicles was released in Japan in 2010 and in EU and US in 2011.

It is well known that all copies/units/dvd's of Xenoblade Chronicles were sold out in matter of weeks since launch in each region so it could not be sold more than the copies NIntendo produced so it was limited in stocks and Xenoblade Chronicles is one of most pirated Wii games.

Nintendo should shift Wii U's focus to just satisfying their *adult* fanbase, because I believe that is the primary Wii U audience, casuals haven't shown up and they tried the "market to kids/families" thing last Christmas to mediocre results.

What Nintendo should do is offer some very nice pre-order bonuses on these games IMO. You should get say a free pair of NFC toys ... one of Link and one of a character from X/Bayonetta/Hyrule Warriors if you pre-order. These figurines should not be available any other way.

Maybe they should look at collector's editions for these games too with artbooks/soundtracks etc. included.

Stuff like that will get the core fanbase to rally around these titles. Other things like perhaps a free eShop download of Xenoblade or something I'd advise.

I think Nintendo should up the rewards for people who support these games.

Also take some chances with the marketing of these games ... what's there to lose at this point? I would do all types of crazy/weird viral marketing for Bayonetta 2 on the internet (cheap).

Just put out the games advertise and they will sell all this other stuff doesn't matter
