Forums - Sony - PS Vita to drop to $180 soon?

Apparently a poster on GAF is not normal. They were actually reading the official rules of a Playstation contest and in the rules it states the retail value of the Vita is $180. Of course the current price of a Vita is $200, so we have the possibility that its either a typo ($179 is pretty close to $199) or its set to match an upcoming Vita price drop at E3.

Might help sales a little but without any major games announed (which im sure they will only have indies) sales wont be that great

If so, that's good. I mean, I think the current bundle is a steal, but if it helps sell the Vita, who am I to judge?

Is there a hint that this may be in one way, shape, form or another influenced by Nintendo?

That will be good however Vita needs a killer game but this is better than nothing!

Price drops have proven to be ineffective for the PS Vita, not sure why they think a $20 drop would help at all.

You mean beyond the fact that 3DS is destroying it in the market and Sony will try to compete as best it can?

The point was that you put this thread into Nintendo Discussion. Probably a subconscious effect, because that's where all the doom threads go.

Well look at that.

They really need to get to at least the 150 price point. I thought the Vita would a lot better than it has when it was first announced. I should have known that first price point (which matched the overpriced 3DS price point) wasn't going to get it off to a good start (considering Nintendo had to drop the 3DS price asap along with a couple system seller games to get it going again). Vita will continue to struggle till it reaches an acceptable price and has a decent amount of system sellers. Does it have good games? I'm sure it has plenty but it lacks system sellers.
