The first that comes to my mind are Rainbow Six Rogue Spear: Black Thorn , Battlefield 2, Counter-Strike: Source for online and PixelJunk Monsters for offline. All four games with my cousin. BF2 and PJM was probably the best experiences.
In Black Thorn I always took the higher areas while he took the lower areas, but we worked on the same side/part of the map if one needed cover or help. Just a shame the game lagged so much. :(
In BF2 I played as a medic and my cousin as an ammo-guy(support?) and we held the posts/flags pretty much alone for complete game rounds. It was so much fun until EA/DICE decided to patch the game and remove the "bugs" that everybody liked.
In CS: Source we always worked together as a two-man-team protecting each other. I mostly flanked in bigger areas(like B-doors and A-long in Dust2) and he gave me cover, but he played better on narrow areas(like catwalk in Dust2), so he went in first and I gave him cover.
In PJM we always had different tactics for every map. One would collect the gold from the trees while the other one would start building up defense. And then we held two sides each, for some maps it meant that I kept the "nest" safe and he kept the corners and "entrance" safe. Or we had one side each to protect in maps with multiple entrances.
This thread really brought up some good memories for me. Thanks. :)
You know what? There was this game for the NES called 8-Eyes. It looked like Castlevania except that the main guy had this pet bird. His name was Orin, I think and his bird was called Cuttrass or something. My bro and I used to rent that game every week until we finally found all of the gems (the eight eyes) and got the shitty true ending. Anyway, he was the guy and I was the bird. It was a unique game that I never would have remembered in a billion years were it not for this thread. I'm sure the game probably sucked but we loved it! A very unique co-op game for the time.

It's never too late now, is it?

Everybody I used to game with kinda dried up during the PS1/N64 era. The one or two that remain only play Madden or Call of Duty styled games. Used to have a ton of people who played Wario Ware or Dance Central but that hasn't happened in forever, either. Even if I did find a "real gamer", they'd probably just want to play PS4 or Xbox One. It's just one of those things that I think won't ever happen.
Sex = Absolute best co op experience ever!!!!!!
I kid, the best co op experience I had was with Gears of War. It was the first online co op experience for me as well.

Hm, I know what you're talking about. If it wasn't for my brother, I think I could never have experienced this awesome multiplayer campaign. Some of my friends don't game at all, others only play big hitters like Call of Duty, Fifa and Grand theft Auto. It's really unfortunate.

Zelda Battle Quest on NintendoLand, too bad Nintendo isn't pushing more in that direction.
For me is Portal 2, L4D2 and Leagues of Legends come second
