And by using the exact same bland template for every dungeon, they were showing us how the mundane routine of everyday life destroys individuality and blends us all into one soulless entity.

Give me a break.

Hey, I didn't say everything about the game was genius :P

The genius of doing the same story that loads of others already have?

what are these "loads of others"? I don't think I have played them :P

Most WRPGs in my mind create very A-Typical medival worlds based on Tolkin mythology. DA is too but breathes life into it by making you realize the questions and issues we have with them via branching story paths.

You're joking right?  These are medieval fantasy cliches.

Other than the Bioware games... I can't think of any recent RPGs that really deal with racism, prejudice, political issues on the same level of realism.

Why the jewish only? We christians also believe that homosexuality is evil, this comes from my christian bible:

…21'You shall not give any of your offspring to offer them to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God; I am the LORD. 22'You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination. 23'Also you shall not have intercourse with any animal to be defiled with it, nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it; it is a perversion.…
Leviticus 18:22

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

While i really liked DA2 (it's one of my favourite ps3 games), i do think you're interpreting a bit much into it.

I don't think so.

The genius of putting these metaphores into this fictional world is that people can be more honest with their reactions to the situation. The fantasy seperates us from it so we don't feel guilty for making the decisions we make. Life breeds creativity and all that.

This does make the story elements more relatable for many. Personal investments are made with the stories due to their similarity to real life.

Seriously, think about the story and think about big civil issues in the world today and yesterday.......they game directly correlates with them in its own way.

Take a group of people to oppress, make someone the outcast of society (rassism or something), and create a threat/agressor/conflict potential.
Imo thats standard storytelling tools to make a world more believable and give it more depth+ history.

As far as i remember (and it's been some time since i've played the game), all these issues are rather broad and unspecific in the game (i don't remember getting much detail on many of them, maby the quinary) which leads me to belive they are plotdevices rather than some deep social criticism.

But that's just my opinion (and may well be wrong).

I say religion as opposed to stating any one monotheistic religion like Christianity, Muslim, etc, etc.

I related Mages partially to Jewish strife in history due to them being isolated in concentration camps during the holocaust, which I find similar to Circle of Magi.

Makes sense, I also sensed Dragon Age 2 was to  preachy for my taste, a friend of mine called it a "Gay Manifesto", the first games was much cooler thought, I loved the freedom and exploring all the places.

As I continue playing I also just notice another imitation of life the game does. The Pursuit of money. With every quest you can usually try and swindle more coin out of the deal, but usually ends with someone being pissed at you. All of Act 1 you are trying to get enough gold to do the expedition. You could take the easy way out and take that shady loan, or struggle to get it by helping everyone you see. You will end up with just enough to get by unless you are willing to step on a few toes to get it. Actions like these make you richer and richer as the game goes on.... but alienates you from certain quests and characters.

Its always harder to do the right thing, few games correctly grasp that concept. Infamous series does I think(Evil powers are so much better to take down enemies but if you are a real hero you have to be wary of civilians at all times). By not going the greedy routes you are scarce on coin but always rich in allies.

Well noted, let´s hope the third game have more of what was cool in the first two.

Bioware is my favorite developer by a long shot. So I am assuming you are excited for DA3?

I'm interested in Dragon Age Inquisition.  The world map looks to be more open world than the first Dragon Age.  It looks as if it'll still have multiple sections of the world, but instead of each of these sections being a dungeon or a town, they're now Elder Scrolls like areas, but far more detailed than any Elder Scrolls games world imo, atleast going by the 30 minutes of gameplay I've seen.  Also, Dragon Age Inquisition looks like they're taking the best part of Dragon Age 2, the combat.  So it's like a larger world similar to but bigger than the first game, combat from the second game, with multiple controllable characters.  Dragon Age Inquisition is going to be an Elder Scrolls killer imo.

agreed!  Inquisition is probably the game I am most pumped about right now.  The impending new Mass Effect game reveal could change that, but as of right now, everything about Inquisition is clicking with me.  They have announced it will have some kind of multiplayer, so I'm curious how that turns out too.  The multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 actually turned out to be my favorite multiplayer experience of the gen, even though I initially scoffed at its inclusion.
