Ni No Kuni. I was going to play this game eventually anyways, but I played it sooner rather than putting it off like many games because I always saw it listed as such a great RPG on VGChartz. I actually never saw anyone list their disappointment of the game until after I commented on it, then I started seeing threads pop up about this game not being any good. Maybe people were just afraid to come out and say it until someone else did?

Mass Effect. I purchased the trilogy when it was $20 and put some time into the first game. I didn't like it but Wright got me to give another chance. My second playthrough I completed the game, and it's not a bad game, but not really a great game either. It's a decent game though and I have a feeling the second game is going to be good so long as they fixed a lot of issues I've had with the first game.

More reason to jump into my recommendation ;)

Mass Effect 2 and 3 are exponentially better than the first one.  They have much better plots and the gameplay is way better.  You should play them through at least once.  The trilogy is my favorite game of the last generation.  I don't even really consider them seperate games.  

Some people do give these games crap though, because they streamlined some of the RPG aspects that were present in the first game, but honestly it is better off.  A lot of the RPG systems in the first one were broken.  Inventory, powers, etc.  were convoluted in the first one.  In two and three they are more streamlined so you can focus more on the story and gameplay.  

I don't know... your recommendation doesn't seem that enthusiastic... and I have heard a lot of bad things about Nier...

Persona 4 Golden rarely disappoints, glad you liked it.

I was actually cautious about Ni No Kuni because I heard mixed impressions on VGC. Then I played the demo and did not like the combat so I skipped it. P4G is one I did buy, mostly because of the Vita thread's gushing, that I was very happy with. I bought Valkyria Chronicles before I came here and, yes, it's seriously one of the best games of the past generation.

I got Tomb Raider partially because some people here loved it but I stopped playing it. The QTEs got on my nerves.

well, its called being realistic. To promote one game with adjectives like epic, "best thing ever made",goty, gotg, etc (especiially without context). is the worst thing to do, imho those people are just showing their lack of criteria.

Hmmm.  True, some people can over sell games, but that excitement can be contagious.  I might take another look at Nier... 

People on this site convinced me to not overlook South Park SoT and it actually was a great game.

was it?  I haven't played it yet, but I have been kind of eyeing it...
