I had no idea the DS4 had a microphone. But after update 1.7 I noticed onscreen prompts for voice controls coming up, without the camera being connected. I ignored it for a while but decided to give it a try to turn off the PS4.

 

I'm not really interested in voice control so this thread is.more about sYing what an awesome piece of kit the DS4 is. Speaker and Mic, so cool!

You could connect the mic to the DS4 and voice control it since Day 1 lol. But you are saying you can with just the controller?

 

Voice controls are a complete waste of time though

Wii U gamepad has speaker and mic. Just saying.

I did not know it has a mic. The Wii U gamepad is very impressive without question, if you would have told me you could make a controller that large and it be comfortable I would have called you a liar. lol

Yes, mic in the DS4, no headset or anything connected to it. Most interest I have in it is whether you can do voice chat without having to have a headset or the camera connected. That's really the only use I have for a mic.

I doubt it is possible but if it was the quality would likely be terrible. They probably have the mic for the same reasons Nintendo does. Guess time will tell
