RAD sure, maybe. QD has never once shown an interest in other platforms, though. Sony's been pretty good to them with regards to giving them freedom to explore anything David Cage can dream up. |
So true. If RAD proven themselves commercially and critically with The Order, I think Sony would purchase them. QD as a studio isn't so attractive at the moment.
Yeeeaah, that Crytek stuff sounds like total bullshit. Their IPs aren't particularly valuable, they don't have a great track record for quality and they are simply too big (a big reason for their current problems). The only thing Sony could gain from them is their technical skill, but they already have ND and GG for that (and QD as a 2nd party).
I could perhaps see them hiring individual teams to integrate into their other studios, but Crytek in its entirety? Nah.

so convenient that he comments on the weather system of driveclub just a day after Evolution said we will see it at gamescom. #tidux #full of shit |
Weather was also talked about at E3.
A survey has hinted that PlayStation Now games may have a 'Deluxe Edition'. It would cost ~15% more, but it would include DLC

Depends on the regular price, I guess. Either way, at least they're floating these ideas to the public first. We'll see how that impacts the service when it goes live.

One could also look at it in this way: "They already do PS only, so why bother acquiring them?" |
Because they can pull an Insomiac one day?

i hope Sony buys all 3 of those devs. Quantic Dream specially. i worry for QD sometimes, because i feel their games can be a really hit and miss, and if a game is a flop i am worried they would be hit with layoffs. however sony seems to believe in them, and Beyond sold 1 million in 2013 alone.
Quantic Dream just seems perfect for Sony though, i hope they buy them. Ready at Dawn seem like a nice fit too, but i am waiting on The Order 1886 to release to further judge their quality.

I'd like to see Sony purchase QD before anyone else. They don't make my favorite games but they do make something very unique, a quality the industry is sorely lacking in.
Not to mention QD already seem to be closely nit into Sony's development circle (So have RAD). At this point it's simply a matter of whose name is on the papers, past that they may as well already be a part of Sony's 1st party.

i doubt Quantic Dream would pull an insomniace. lets be honest, those didnt leave because they couldnt make the game they wanted with sony, they left because MS offered more money, its that simple. but with QD they said time and time again they dont care about the money, and just want to make the game they want to make. Sony has been letting them do that, offering support, and as you said, letting them into their internal development circle, which i am pretty sure has benefited them greatly. They have more security with sony than any third party publisher too, because the support is mainly dependent on their quality not sales, because exclusives dont all need to be huge successes, but to be quality enough to drag some people in and make the system stand out.
as far as Ready At Dawn, well their past and relationships are heavily tied with sony studio's. Naughty Dog probably being the strongest tie as well. the have always looked at Naughty Dog for inspiration, back in the PSP days their goal was to be "The Naughty Dog of the PSP". and Sony has also helped them grow from a tiny dev into an AAA dev now, and im sure they have plans to grow even further. they can pull an insomniace, but i see its less likely.
