Forums - Nintendo - If Watch Dogs Wii U edition pushes over 100,000 FW globally, will Ubisoft and "You all" be happy?

100k retail only would be a solid debut IMO, but it needs to push ~1 million lifetime for it to be truly worthy. AC4 didn't even come close to it and its an established brand and came out roughly at the same time.

Also, we still don't know just how good the game is. If its not a AAA+ piece of software I doubt that many will remain excited until the end of the year.

No, it doesn't need nowhere near 1 million to be worthy. it will do it's minimum of 300k lifitime wich gives some profits but whatever it's ltd is, it will be much lower than what could have been.

100k first week for this game would be bad bad. 200-300k with deent following weeks

this, 100k first week aint nothing to be proud of for a game like this. Hell i think every other version have more in preorders alone sans PC

100k first week is an ok number for any multiplatform ever. in this situation, it's a great number.

Well this question MAY just MAY be a premature ejaculation.

We don't even know how the game will review (well I guess we can kind of predict with the free touch pads given out). It may sell shit on PS4/ONE if reviews are shit. so then how do we classify success?

I really hope we don't get another Aliens scenario on our hands with this game as it was one of my hyped games to buy.

Ah forget my rant it will sell shit on Wii U anyway.

I think they would want it to do near 1m LT, Which would probably mean 300k or upwards 1st week as I doubt it will have legs on the Wii U. I can't see them being happy with it to be honest and I cant see it doing well, probably 400k LT.

400k ltd IS doing well.

50 to 80k FW.
and it would be ok.

100k would be awesome.

Once people will see that they have access to $20-$40 PC, PS3/4 &X360/1 copies (which have more features like DLC) in July onward the interest in this game on the U will dry up. < 100k sold.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

100k is way too high, I'm thinking maybe 30k FW?

Thats where it is at with pre orders currently....

VGC preorder numbers are completely worthless and I refuse to take them seriously.

From what I've seen, VGC preorders tend to be much lower than first week numbers when it comes to Nintendo games. So yeah, worthless for the most part, but still a good gauge for a minimum number for US sales.

Edit: And by Nintendo games, I mean anything on a Nintendo system, not just Nintendo published. Again, just what I've noticed.

Expect many to be cancled when its announced for 2015 :p

But seriously, I don't see who will be buying this game for the Wii U other then hardcore Ninty fans who want to support 3rd party titles. Its genuine audience will have all got it for another platform, maybe a small portion will wait to see the gamepad functionality but they won't be more then 100k large and they certainly won't all buy it on its first week.

Not in Ubi's world.... Certainly not for a title of this caliber. Sure it will make small pocket money but they could instead have the team porting the Wii U version work on additional DLC or something which would probably garner back far $$$. For such massive companies, its more then whether or not they make money, its how much they make. Its about Opportunity Cost, they could refocus those resources into something else that would garner back many times more profit.
