Honestly I couldn't finish this game :(, The gameplay just isn't fun to me, and the checkpoints are kind of bad. It's presentation is amazing though

Squeezol's Fanclub Member? is that how it works?

Why can't I hold all these no gaemz?

Always looking to improve my awful drawings ;_;

Yeah, I'm having a similar problem. The art style is amazing, but the gameplay is overly simple and not very rewarding. I just played through the pirate ship, which was actually one of the better levels, but it still feels lacking. But the worst part, for me, are the constant interruptions. The ratio of game to cut scene has to be 1:1. Every time I try to get into the game, I'm pulled away by some overlong and uninteresting cinematic.

I'm going to keep playing and finish, but so far it been disappointing, especially because I adore Japan Studio :/

I can't believe what I'm reading, you guys sound as biased as this man

I honestly didn't have much fun with Puppeteer. I enjoyed the look but the gameplay was very shallow. Felt like it was favoring style over substance to me.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Me biased no way! I'm only biased for JRPGs

I Played this in 3D and its one of the few titles that manages to keep up the graphical quality in 3D. The game is a lot of fun, but there were times that the narration (pikarina mostly) got on my nerves. Its meant to be played with your kids so i guess some of that is acceptable. The music was great and in some of the Wild West stages it was incredible.

A lot of fun and really stands out in the area of Presentation (especially in 3D) and level design. i admit the gameplay does lack in variety but i was never bored as i did appreciate "the show". I would personally say 9/10, but i'm a big platformer fan, so there is some some bias in that score.

Since it is the end of the month, i'll post some ramblings about the game. All of the positives and negatives have already been covered in various posts. The conclusion that game does most things right except the "game" part would be quite accurate. I was quite looking forward to it since the first time they announced it. The art style looked amazing and it had a lot of charm. At least it delievered on those fronts.

The biggest problem with the game was they had a story to tell and they would do that any cost. They would interrupt you every few seconds (it felt like that) and ramble about something on and on. The sidekick Pikarina while initially cute, gets way too annoying. There is insane amount of dialogue in this game and it is not just an overkill for a platformer but most other games.

The gameplay mechanics pertaining to platforming are not too refined either, although i think the "scissor" was done okay for the most part. I quite liked some of the level specific characters you meet. Their back story which reads like a dark fairy tale can also be found in the unlockables section. The boss fights were not too bad either. I remember enjoying fighting the dragon and snake.

I did have fun in parts while playing the game. On the whole, it was quite underwhelming and couldn't deliver on a promise of a well rounded game. Would i recommend it? Maybe, it really depends on your tastes. If you prefer Nintendo kind of platformers, i'd say steer away from this one. I mean there was a fellow vgc member who proclaimed this to be his game of the generation, while he gave NSMBU a 4/10 (which i think is top tier platformer).

Here i found the thread. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=176274&page=0#-9   Although i mentioned in that thread that he seems quite impressionable and has a "knack" for games that most would find average at best.

Different things for different people.

Peace out.

And puppets. Unless you like Dynamite Headdy, then it's something else.

I think that's a spot-on analysis. The scissor mechanic is interesting and the boss fights enjoyable, but overall the game is too focused on telling what amounts to an uninteresting story.
