"The fine peeps at Make-A-Wish Foundation must be thrilled - a few avid Halo 3 fans with lots-o-cash have bid a custom Halo 3 Xbox 360 console up to over $21,000. With the bidding closing today, the final figure may still grow larger. "

Wow, that is a completely stupid waste of money. It probably isn't even the elite model.

Yup and of course that 21,000 console will fail within half a year. ITS THE RING!

Hey, it's for a good cause, no bashing allowed.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

The make a wish foundation hit gold when they decided to do this. think of all the happy kids there will be now.

about 1. Make a wish foundation spends tens of thousands of dollars on each kid's wish on average.

no offense to them, but there are better uses for charity funds

If you were a parent of a child who had a life threatening disease and maybe wasn't going to make it beyond their next birthday wouldn't you want to make their remaining time as happy as you possibly could?

Maybe you are not a parent yet so don't understand.

It is slightly lower than you may think as it is AUSTRLIAN DOLLARS.

It ended at $24,000AU / £10,000 / $20,000

There are always better uses for funds, for example, a better use for the US's military budget would be solving world hunger, but hey, what can you do =).  At least a few terminally ill kids will get something happy to think about while they're dying.
