Looking at the combat it seems they've removed the 4 directions but everything else is almost the same. That's a shame since they could have used it for interesting battles.

I didnt use the positioning in Escha & Logy much, just a little in Ayesha for some battles. Maybe it's still in the game but since the boss fight is in a boat it cant be applied? it's a possibility

Yeah, there wasn't really a point of using it in Escha & Logy. Ayesha focused on it more but it wasn't great.
Hopefully they've kept it, such an interesting concept :(
