Forums - Gaming - Update! I thought I'd give you guys a look at the latest build of Unreal Engine 4, High Quality screens now in OP

Hi Ben... having a tough time with the crowd here at VGC ehhh...

I have real questions for you if you care to answer i'd be very pleased.

First, how did you get it, I heard Epic planed to release a verison of Unreal 4 with some kind of monthly subscription and you give them a cut when you start selling your games... did you use this? If not how did you get it... you can PM me if it's too personal.

Second, did you used UDK? If so how is the UI compared to UDK?

I saw somewhere you could do your animations directly in UE4 did you tried this?

Can you post pics of the UI

Are you a game dev (I know you work on retail but still, part time dev?)

If you used UDK, does it still use Cascade for particles and Kismet for the programmation?

Hey, I can answer a few of these

1. I simply paid the subscription to buy it, anyone can download Unreal Engine 4 is you pay 19.99 a month, not bad at all for an amazing engine. You don't have to be a developer.

2. I've never owned any engine prior to Unreal Engine 4 so can't say much when comparing it to other things sorry.

3. I'm not a developer, I mostly bought it just to run the demo's Epic puts up and see how the engine is coming along.

4. I'm not sure I'm aloud to post screen of the UI honestly.

Looks amazing but I doubt consoles can output that at high resolution

1) editor will update and allow download of latest demos without having to re-sub each month just a FYI

4) you can.

I posted pictures from the subway demo at 8k res in the screenshots thread a while back ;)

Last but not least, wasting your effort here, all you're going to get is people thinking these are from a press release, thinking theyre off of ps4 and not the pc version, or just straight up ragging on them as if they look awful.

Welcome to vgchartz (i know, i know, youre not new)

Thanks man, 20 bucks a month is ridiculous, really... as for posting images of the UI I don't know either but sooner or later people will start posting tutorials about how to do things in UDK. Will watch closely.

Fraps should do it that's what we use for video capture in UDK

Glad u like it Ben :)

Looks pretty great to me. Definitely no less impressive than Frostbite 3 imo

Haha, I have a PC that utterly smashes every console ever made. I think a LOT of you guys are spoiled by bullshots companies have put out over the years. This is 100% real time on my own rig, and in motion its damn impressive.

Leave it to Vgchartz to toxic this place up though, I swear every thread, every time.

To bad for you then that Watch Dogs will probably look better on PS4 than on PC. In other words please stop bragging about your PC, yes PC's are more powerfull but most people don't care.
