Forums - General - Panasonic Posts $1.17 Billion Net Profit After Massive Losses Over Last Two Years. (Weak Yen)

Good news for Panasonic.

Completely forgot that Sharp even existed, I have not heard anyone speaking of their products in a long time, but good to hear they at least returned to profit between April and December, even if they had to let nearly 20,000 workers go in the process.

So a weak yen is what turns it around for companies......thats kinda cheating IMO :P

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

That's really good but how come their TV division is not making huge loses anymore?

That consumption tax is quite retarded on Abe's part. Japan must avoid the specter of deflation and what does he do? Go about saying "buy stuff and we'll take more money from you!"

I get that their national balance sheet is dire, but a consumption tax is an ass-backwards way of trying to resolve that when your entire economic policy is based around inflating your currency.

hmm, well their debt is the main problem so the tax is necessary.

I don't think his policy on the economy is good though. If Japanese companies do well that doesn't necessarily mean those companies will increase pay and employees and thus increase consumption. And without an increase in demand for goods, deflation will continue.
