To be honest, I would be perfectly fine with games that have PS2 level graphics. As long as they are clear, and play properly.

Well too bad 90% of the gamers don't want that.. there should be room for mid tier games with a cheaper price point.. the gap between indie and triple A is too big.. and it isn't being filled.. we didn't even bought games like Spec ops the line, Vanquish, Binary Domain when they dropped in price so I don't think they would have done better if they started with a 40 dollar price..

where do you get your numbers?

Out of the my thumb.. but its clear that looking at the sales of mid tier games or A games released during the 360 and PS3 generation its not what gamers wanted..  Just look at the top sellers http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=&publisher=&platform=PS3&genre=&minSales=0&results=200

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Vanquish was trash tho. People have different interests and whatnot btw.

Wasn't AAA always the minority?

Not till we had those 99% of shitty "indie" games..
anyway.. kinda sad if we lose even more triple AAA games and the industry went all sequels only..
And yes I'm blaming those so called "gamers" for not buying awesome games like Vanquish so we now are stuck with "amazing indie games" no one really cares about but we act like we care cause there aren't awesome games like Vanquish coming out anymore..

Nah. I don't worry too much. This year we're practically getting a great AAA game every month and this is just the launch year. All the big publishers will still strive for AAA as well as some indies using their skill and producing AAA level games on a much smaller budget.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Not sure if what he said is really truth or just a nudge towards "buy UE4, and your budget won't skyrocket", but either way I wouldn't be too worried - we're witnessing revival of small/mid size devs that are making AA games aimed at digital distribution, so their will be plenty of great games in the future.

I personally would amend your statement to say that 90% of PS360 gamer's don't want that.  The Wii, Handheld consoles and Mobile markets make it really easy to show demand for what those gamers would call mid tier games. Excluding mobile those have composed more than 10% of the console market no matter how you slice it.

That's just me personally. Not that you have to agree or amend. I was just confirming my suspicion of where your numbers came from based on your statement.

Vanquish was amazing tho. People have different interests and whatnot btw.

Fixed for you.

But anyway, I'm not surprised at this. Theres going to be a lot less AAA titles in development all round this gen compared to the last. Budgets have been spiraling out of control for the last few years..

I'd be fine with more mid-level games. Honestly, I'm willing to bet that part of what he's talking about is developers going with Unity or other options over Unreal Engine 4.

What I was thinking.
