They should make it a option. People who prefer locked at 30 FPS can lock it, people who hate it can play with it unlocked.

Variable framerate can be smooth... GoWIII is smooth.

I know that you always take this game as an example, doesn't make it any better to me. It's not the framerate itself but the difference in response to controller input that makes it bad to me. And it seems to be a trend this gen...

Having a game screaming along at 60 and then jarring down to 30 when the action gets heavy on the screen is as ridiculous and obnoxious as the slowdown on a 30fps game dipping into the 20's or below under the same circumstances. Either aim for 1080p at a locked framerate of 30 or cut the res and upscale to maintain the 60fps. This generation has been a circus act so far. |
But this isn't anything new. I haven't played much games with unlocked framerates myself, but the one I remember (MGS4) did it perfectly.
Yep.
They should give people the option to play with a lower resolution and locked 60 fps and not only locked 30 fps and 1080p in the games they implement this option.
Talking about this game I think they should also implement both options, lower res and locked 60 fps or locked 30fps and 1080p. Would make many people happy to have these three options (third is the 1080p and unlocked like this game already has)

No Xbone version... maybe a late port in the future.
