 I think it has some potential and the devs also seemed to be pretty positive regarding the Wii U's GamePad so who knows!

That's a problem easily fixed by Nov 2014 though or through patches or through different configurations of the car in my experience with other racing games.

Read the post above yours ^^. In Need for Speed Most Wanted U, the motion controls are arguably better than the pure analog controls, which were pretty good to begin with.
