Forums - Gaming - Titanfall exclusivity proved to be (quite) pointless

I find it suspicious how MS or EA haven't claimed any achievement regarding Titanfall's sales. It sold better than inFamous, but as Sony announced it's early sales, they must've been quiet happy with it. Titanfall sales however, suggest it wasn't good enough, despite selling more. I can imagine they expected it to sell millions, possibly coming into CoD/BF sales territory, but it was far from that, and therefore they're not making any claims yet, because 1 or 2 million for such a highly marketed game is as I imagine, far from being good.

I have suspicions its because the 360 version is still a couple weeks. old. When that version has been on sale for over a month, I think then would be a great time to announce total sales across all 3 platforms.

Titan Fall 1 Billon sales confirmed!

Obviously.

Please, stop with "it´s not what people expected"... this is ridiculous.

How do you know what people expected? How do you know people are not enjoing as much as they expected?

You are repeating the same stuff over and over again since Titanfall Day One. DAY ONE!

When the first review broke the embargo you was here saying "it´s a great grame, but not what people expected. Low quality graphics and hits single digit FPS".

You are not fooling anyone.

PS: Correct-me if I´m wrong, but your "mypst" shows you have only Killzone SF as a full retail game for the PS4 and you completed only 44% of it, was this game below your expectations?

He doesn't know what people expected, he'll tell you to "ask them yourself". Yet at the same time he sure knows it wasn't what they expected. Haha @ the single digit frames FUD, my favorite Titanfall FUD of all.

2 million+ in sales (not counting digital) and it's not what EA expected. EA will eventually talk sales with investors as they always do. Just because Sony makes an announcement about Infamous selling a million doesn't mean other companies have to.

DF confirmed it goes single-digit in the next article... can be a bug but it happens because happened to me... the game almost freezes.

Tuesday, 8 April 2014 - "That said, frame-rate does creep below on rare occasions (similar to Xbox One, we can see the odd freeze - a small clutch of duplicate frames) but there's nothing game-breaking."

So how you call that fud? lol

Uh, I call that FUD because that's exactly what it is? Please, don't play dumb. What I like here is that you aren't content with your original FUD, you have now added layers of FUD into the FUD, creating a kind of "FUDucken".

Original FUD: Titanfall has single digit frame drops. Not only does it have them, you use it constantly against the game and act as if it's a big issue and happens constantly.

New FUD: In defense of this claim, you provide a snippet of a quote from an article, taken completely out of context, and in no way shape or form confirming what you have been FUDding. Do you see the part where it says "creep below"? The actual context of that line is the "30+ FPS" the game is meant to run. So yes, apparently it does "creep below" uh.. 30+ FPS. Nowhere does it say down to 9 frames per second or less.

Even more FUD: That article is not even about the Xbox One version of the game you've been speaking of, it's about the Xbox 360 version. Would you like to read that same writer from that same website talking about the XBone and PC versions of the game regarding this single digit frame rate?

"Titanfall has been hit over the head repeatedly this week by comments quoted from Giant Bomb, describing a particular instance of single-digit frame-rates in the Last Titan Standing mode, which kits out every player with a Titan and lets them 'have at it'. On the one hand, the report potentially has some merit - this mode is likely to push the game engine to its limits. On the other hand, this engine is designed to pump out a new frame every 16ms. Clearly it doesn't always manage it, but a drop down to single digit frame-rates would necessitate that engine taking 100ms to render the next image - an enormous amount of time. So does the Last Titan Standing mode really hammer frame-rates as badly as suggested?"

Oh snap. What do they find? I'm on pins and needles. Lets continue.

"Last Titan Standing is an excellent workout for the engine, as it gifts every player in the arena a Titan to play with. The carnage is quite remarkable. It's in this area where the mooted 'single-digit' frame-rates are found but in our tests, we saw nothing quite so severe."

Here, I made this for you:

There should be some sort of filter installed here so that any time the forum registers you typing Titanfall, this is all we see. It's pathetic, but also very adorable that you'd go to such lengths. And I didn't even touch on the part where you haven't even touched the final game, only the beta. I guess we can save that for the next FUD breakdown. Bye.

Old article vs new article... DF writer faced the frezze in single-digit in Titanfall on Xbone.

You spread fud without know what happened and linking old articles where they didn't faced it in the first time lol

But I know... for you the game is perfect and have no framedrop below 30fps ever.

It's the no 2 game for the X1 and will probably surpass Ghosts in a couple of weeks. That will make it the best selling X1 game at the moment and probably for a long time to come. How is that pointless? That's like saying the X1 is pointless.

What MS wanted was a repeat of the first Halo. What they got was anything but. Thats the OP's point.

So you don't think it will outdo the original Halo on XBOX? Maybe not but a very good start though with a smaller current user base and of course a very high attach rate. Again.. a healthy start to an exclusive hit game. This one will have legs.

The first Halo MADE Xbox. Without it, that system would have failed and we might not even have had the Xbox 360. So do I think it will outdo it? Absolutely not lol. Titanfall is no Halo.

Dude, by your definition, what WILL be Halo lol? Nothing of course.  Just like few games will ever have an impact on the industry like Mario 64 going into full 3D.  Just hard to replicate that kind of stuff.

For what it's worth, Titanfall is awesome in my book.  And you don't need to buy and X1 to play it.  People need to stop slamming a great game just because they done like one of three of the system's its on.

I'm really looking forward to April NPD since i think VGChartz is underestimating the X360 version. X360 hardware even dropped to just 20k in the U.S. in the last weeks numbers.

So you mean OVERestimating.

It's funny that somehow a game that's been hyped up the wazoo since last year all the way up to launch date by both MS & EA has remained relatively quiet since post launch date.  Since when did MS & EA ever NOT brag about numbers and sales?  For MS, if it was a system seller as they believed, you wouldn't be able to stop them or the media about how much this "exlusivity" paid off for MS 1 week after release..  Likewise, EA would be touting that they have this awesome COD killer on their hands.  Exactly how long did it take MS to talk about "fastest selling system.." "selling over 1 mil in 24 hrs".. etc, etc.. and yet they are super secret about how well titanfall did for their system almost 2 months since launch (XB1)?  Same thing with EA.. how long before they started saying "8th generation, EA sells most titles.." etc. and now it's.. crickets.. crickets?!  Seems to me the numbers weren't so great.. hence the silent treatment from both companies surrounding actual HW & SW sales figures.  And onto your point.. Sony can make an announcement about Infamous because maybe it met their expectations from a sales point?  You don't think EA and MS would not do the same if Titanfall had met theirs?

Spin it all you want, but from MS standpoint.. paying for titanfall exclusivity and still not beating Sony in March = MS FLOP.  EA betting on Titanfall exclusivity with MS this gen = EA FLOP.

Looks like a duck.. smells like a duck.. quacks like a duck.. hey it must be a duck!?!  OMG..

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

I must say that I think making Titanfall an Xbox One exclusive didn't do much good. It didn't boost the XOne sales that much and this should've had the freedom to be on PS4 as well. Microsoft probably had to pay a lot to keep it exclusive but in the end it proved to be not worth the effort. I personally also hate the way Microsoft seems to think that by just making something exclusive everyone will buy an XOne (that's at least what I seem to get out of their behaviour towards Titanfall), but that's a different discussion.

I bet EA enjoyed the money they got out of MS though!

This is one of the reasons why i hate MS practises of money hatting!
