You spin it however you want it.

Gears remained popular and a flagship to Xbox even though it wasn't first party.

Judgement was not done by Epic. Imagine if it was...

And Gears 4 isn't going to be done by Epic. Are you trying to help your case here lol?

Check the staff at Black Tusk!

Epic folks that worked on Gears, flocked over there after the Chinese investment.

Lets stop with off topic comments for now.

What this shows us is Gears declining popularity. Gears 3 is the lowest selling in the numbered series, and Judgement is just...yeah.

Uncharted on the other hand is growing, as you can see by the huge boost from Uncharted 1 to 2 and then Uncharted 3 has achieved similar sales to 2 in a much shorter period. Not counting Golden Abyss, as it's on another handheld, however 1.16M sales on a 7M system is something to brag about.

Gears 3 released later than Gears 1 and 2, of course it's lifetime sales are going to be lowest right now, but it's on track to be the best-selling game in the series. Also digital has increased in popularity over the years, so I'm sure Gears 3 is already in the lead with digital sales included. In other words each main numbered Gears title has shown an increase over the previous, same as Uncharted. Judgement was basically a spin-off designed by another developer, same as Golden Abyss. Both series are quite popular, why can't people just leave it at that?

No idea, ask the one who started this conversation =)

Edit- Also, Uncharted 3 and 2 released later than Uncharted 1, so why do they have higher sales? The answer is simple! Growing popularity. Uncharted 3 has managed to sell the same amount as Uncharted 2, in a shorter time frame. That's something the Gears franchise can't brag about.

Anyways, I'm done here =)

Well Uncharted has hardly grown in popularity, it's just that every subsequent game has been bundled & advertised  significantly more, it's as simple as that. Take away the mass bundling & Sony's most expensive marketing campaigns and it's not that big a franchise. Probably would sell around 4.5m ish.

Gears of War is still a substantially more popular franchise and they don't rely on mass bundling. Also I bet Gears of War 3 is significantly undertracked. I doubt a game that sold 3 million copies week 1 could have such poor legs.

On topic, I expect Gears of War for Xbox One to be a real show-piece game, it's going to be beautiful but let's just hope it's as great in all departments, Gears of War: Judgment is a looker but my goodness it sucked hard.

Since you seem to know so much, how many of the Uncharted sales were bundles? If you can't give me a concrete number, don't bring up the bundles argument. Your comment is even more off topic than ours lmfao.

Do we know if development for the next gears has actually started yet? Or are they still in the "planning" stages?

Man, this thread has really gone where it shouldn't. Making me sad as a big Gears-fan... But I am leaving it now.

I'm guessing they're going to aim for 60 fps. That seems to be one of MS's objectives for shooters.

Can't wait, Gears is one of the biggest reasons I'm in the Xbox camp.
