And suddenly the X1 got a lot more attractive for some people. Isn't that what MS always wanted?

i dont think it is true... we still doesn't have homebrewed 3ds and wii u... and from previous reports... hacking wii u would be the easiest thing in the world... if this is true then microsoft did it themself...
history recall best selling consoles are easily hacked... wii, ps, ps2, ds... and psp was so popular worldwide with the .iso in torrents. |
Well... Yes and no for wiiU and 3ds loll... For the wiiU, the wii mode is fully hackable so if you want to play wii games for free, you can! Same goes for the 3ds and DS games provided you have an R4 or something equivalent... I don't actually do it for my 3ds cause I spent way too much so in the off chance I get banned, I will lose too much for it!
As for wiiU games and 3ds games. There have been claims for the wiiU but no real results yet but for the 3ds, if you have firmwire 4.5 or lower, you can get a card that will let you play 3ds games... I am not trying to promote piracy btw, just pointing out some things loll
And yea, the wii was basically baby's first hack for consumers... If you like super fuck up the hacking process, most of the time, its still recoverable, it even has big buttons that tell you how to recover from a soft brick vs ps3, if you fuck up even slightly (in most cases), time to throw that brick in the junk yard

It allows them to run whatever they want on the XB1 which leads to homebrew and full offline control. They could even trick the system to bypass any online verification processes the system might attempt.
Since its not a server hack, things that rely on the network might be more traceable and thus bannable, but since the system allows usb and hdds to be connected to it that could easily lead to an exploit that can be put on the internet for download by the layman. MS could impose a filter on external devices but that would cause some problems as well. Best Case Scenario, this isn't true.

Gives the ability to pirate the games as well as many other things... Like for example, if you have an NTFS hard drive which most are these days, ps3, by default, can't use it without fomatting it into Fat32... But with a hacked version, it can use it without formatting it and etc

I don't understand why people do this. Is he making money be creating this hack?
Is there anything MS can do legally to these hackers?

Its never been about money for hackers, its about ideology and pride.
The same thing happened to PS3, the other OS option was utilized as a backdoor. Sony sued the hacker who did it and removed the option. A few months later, the PSN was heavily compromised and Sony was forced to shut it down to fix the problem.
MS can't fix the hardware problem especially with 5 million of them shipped. If its trully an issue of hardware then it would ultimately require a redesign which is hella expensive this early in the gen and might not even be possible. If MS sues the hacker, assuming they can even fine them first and the country that the hacker is in extradites him to the U.S, they could. But then they would face heavy retaliation, and XBL would be the obvious target, something the XB1 does not need right now. Not to mention it wouldn't solve the problem at all.

If i were M$ i would role out a fake hack that bricks peoples consoles who tried it.
I would create loads of versions of it and put it all over the pirate and hacking sites.

Have you slept throught the whole George Hotz debacle?
Long legal battle, lots of criticism to Sony for suing the nobel hackers, and made no damn difference as the keys were out there anyway.
