Those links that Dark_Feanor got me curious, so I actually looked up last year's 360 numbers compared to One's numbers. Things are much worse for the One than I thought. From January to April 6th of 2013, the 360 sold ~1.8M. From January to April 5th of this year, the One sold ~1.1M. That's ~700K in the 360's favor and it only went on to sell ~5.8M for the whole year. MS better do something and they better do it fast. Especially considering it looks like Sony is going to sell at least 10-12M PS4's this year.

The 360 from January to April was around $200 and had a Halo + COD combination. After Xbox One + PS4 were announced of course the 360 sales were 5.8m for the year. Don't expect Xbox One's sales to be the same.

So, their only realistic chance to outsell Sony is Halo week once every year and Gears week once every two or three. Maybe COD week if they cut price to parity with PS4.

GG.

Eh its waaaaaaaaay too early still to call something like that.

It really depends what kind of moves MS is able to make, and what kinds of software / pricing they can get to stay competitive.  Will they outsell the PS4 on a consistant basis? I hightly doubt it, but they will most likely be able to do it more than once every year, likely MUCH more than that.

People forget this is still the EARLY days of the generation. At this point in its lifespan people litteraly thought the PS3 was done for, the first 6 months for Sony were brutal, and all things considered the PS3 had a great lifespan.

That's why these "DOOM" proclomations are very unfounded. I do however think its safe to call Global console sales though, MS is NOT beating the PS4 globally this generation.

I've been pretty careful about making early predictions regarding these two consoles, I think this is the most I've ever stuck out my neck on this subject. I don't think it's too early to say that those are the only chances it has in the forseeable future.

MS just essentially packed in their biggest 'exclusive' that isn't Gears or Halo for free, and still got beaten by 60k units in a month with only Infamous as an exclusive for their competitor. Infamous is small-fry. It's a third or second tier Sony exclusive by popularity, same with Killzone. It's pretty clear MS won't outsell them on a 'regular' month with no big releases, so their only hope are for when the big games hit, aka Q3-4,but then in most years they'll be going up against games bigger than Infamous and KZ too.

They have very few opportunities of their own design to post bigger numbers than the PS4.  They can cut the price early and lose a ton of money upfront. And they can invest in new IP and hardware to find their next breakout hit.  And MS just committed their premier new team to an old IP...

And please stop saying DOOM sarcastically, I'm not arguing if the XB1 is DOOMED, most reasonable people aren't. All XB1 has to do to lose is sell less than PS4. Which is a very easy thing.

X1 is not the PS3 nor ill it ever come back like it.  There is little legit correleation between what PS3 did and chances X1 could ever pull of the same.

Its all very well founded, sales are a big flashing red sign pointing to just that.  March events and NDp numbers are exactly that.

You can't honestly belive current sales are the best the Xbox One will have, I mean for Christs sake Wii U is up YOY for hardly any reason, it has no 3rd pary support and really just the promise of a few exclusives on the horizons.

Do you honestly believe the One will only outsell the PS4 in NA during Halo week? I mean that, objectivley look at the question and tell me you belive that.  Because if so that's quite a shocking outlook.

Again your misunderstanding my entire point in this thread. Overall sales, X1 is fucked in terms of outselling the competition. The ship has sailed, its over. Sony won this generation. The momentum they have isn't something MS can get back.  But who knows how trends will go, which games that are new IP's could blow up, etc. I mean look at Gears of War, that game turned into a huge IP and now people are saying its one of the only weeks MS can win NA when the next one launches.

Again its WAY too early to make these kinds of large scale predictions and those that do end up looking very foolish when people dig these threads up years from now.

Again though that's a bold ass prediction. What if Sunset Overdrive ends up being mind blowing?  What if Quantam Break releases and is incredible?

That's what I mean, people are used to being in established trends as the last 3 years for console sales have pretty much followed a strait path. We are in the first steps of a new generation with lots of new IP's coming.  Those two games could turn out terrible and do nothing, or they could be massive hits, and the next Gears of War for MS.

That's what my overall point is, people need to be ready for some epic twists and turns over the next few years, just look at how many curve balls got thrown to us last gen with sales trends.

If they cut the price $100 they will outsell PS4 very comfortably. If they do a kinect-less SKU at $350 they will outsell it permanently. It's easy to see that the main factor hodling back people is the price. The 360 just sold 111K.

X1 will have better sales then this, issue is PS4 will have much much better sales then they have now.  So no matter what PS4 is well PS4ing the competition no matter how well they do.  They couldnt out sale it with Titanfall free bundles, i dount anything other then Halo will out sale it.  Even Gears is not a sure bet.

It in no way to early, price can only be cut so much before its to big a loss to sale to shareholders and higher ups.  We know the big franchises and more or less when they will come.

PS4 is the platform for 3rd parties, so other then a big exclusive liek Halo nothing is really gonna push X1.

Let's see it this way for the non-doomers out there; The X1 selling less in US this month is about as doomy as if the WiiU would sell less than Vita in the month MK comes out.

Again, no we don't.

Last generation Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, Uncharted, Gears of War, and The Last of Us were all new IP's with zero previous games to judge sales on.  We have no idea what big new IPs will be born this generation.  One or more of them very well could come from MS Game Studios.

It is very likely that the PS4 will consistantly outsell the Xbox One for the forseeable future, but in year one its FAR too early to start calling something as bold as PS4 outselling the X1 every single week of the year. We litteraly have no idea what this generation is going to look like or which games will be the big players yet.

MK is the Wii U's last hope. Titanfall is not Xbox One's.

BTW isn't the fact that Wii U is competing with Vita spell doom itself?

You are forgetting that titanfall is a NEW IP (while infamous is an established ip). Beside the comparison to vita vs wiiu is absurd. Those console are both doomed. They are doomed because they sell very little in absolute terms. It doesn't matter being 1st or 2nd if you sell a lot and are profitable.
