Forums - Gaming - What do you prefer? Local multiplayer or online multiplayer?

Local.

Almost all online games are way too repetitive feeling for me. You just do the exact same thing over and over. When playing with friends however your interaction is not limited by the game. Something happens and you share that moment off screen.

Online is nice to keep fighters and racers more interesting when you don't have friends over, but local is better in every other way.

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

Ideally both (and there's really no excuse not to have both most of the time), but which one I prefer is very dependant on the type of game. I like to play fighters and sports games with people in the same room because you really hype each other up and get more into it. When it comes to things like shooters though, I prefer online because I can play with more people at the same time, and nobody needs to sacrifice screen space.

I prefer online.

I'd say local, it's more fun with friends in the same room. Beer, you can see their reactions and emotions, the banter and just the fun.

Online is more convenient, but brings the foul mouthed, racist, sexist 13 year olds of xbox live into your game. A mute button is not enough.

Local for sure.

Local, but that doesn't mean online isn't fun.

I get cockier online and am not as graceful with victories or losses oddly enough, so I in general try to stick with local.

For PC? Online. Online MP can be so much fun on PC where things are easy to manage and where you have a lot of choice and relatively few restrictions. For consoles? Local. It's just awesome playing with someone you know in the same space, whereas online MP feels too restricted and unsocial.

I like both, but most of the time I play online with friends, mainly on PC. Not a huge fan of local mp games though, other than Mario Kart or LBP.

Could I play MK7 locally right now? No. Could I play MK7 online right now? Yes. So there you have it!
