Forums - Sales - omg 360 actually decreasing in sales??

I started off lurking over there and people kept on talking about VGcharts and I checked them out and found them to be much more intouch with whats going on in the market.

Well MS SHIPPED 10M by 12/31/06 and since then they have SHIPPED .5M more so if they sold 100% they would be at 10.5M only. And last I checked 360 was not sold out anywhere. So if I am not mistaken, the other site seems overly optimistic.
They actually claimed to have shipped 10.4 million systems by the turn of the year. Adding the extra 0.5 million units shipped since then would put lifetime shipments at 10.9 million units, which is just barely this side of making nexgenwars numbers not impossible. Although they are wrong. Probably.

Nexgenwars is not to be used at all. At allllll.

MS has announced they shipped 10.5 total 360s. How the HELL could the 360 have SOLD 10.66? lol

gebx - It was a joke, the numbers were adjusted right after the Japanese chart was posted. ;)

"Strong companies confident in their strategy and performance don't do these things," the Ehrenberg blog says. "They don't have to. What kind of a message does this type of behavior send to the investor community and, more importantly, your customers? Weakness. Fear. Short-term thinking. Nothing that represents a positive signal for a better, brighter tomorrow." Roger Ehrenberg, president and COO of investment analyst service Monitor110 financial blog, got his information from the Apple-focused Blackfriars' Marketing. They imply that "Microsoft threatened to withhold copies of its Vista operating system--released in January--from retailers who didn't play along and choke down excess Xbox 360 inventory."

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

I really wish there was some way we could find out 360 failure rates. I don't wanna start a heated debate about this in this thread, but it would be interesting to know if somehow replacement systems were inflating 360 sales at all.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

nexgenwars' numbers are very random and have a margin of error of atleast +/-15%.

MS said they wanted to ship 10M by 2006 maybe they did and havent sold them yet. April will be high only due to the elite it will decrease until the fall.

They annlunced 10 million sold, when they ship they count as sold which they shouldn't...

I don't think the Elite is gonna have a huge effect, but we'll see.

Elite won't have ANY GOOD effect. I don't remember new versions that actually costed more than on market version ever being successful.

It's either same price or cheaper. Not more expensive. Microsoft logic at its best. But hey it was probably original design for 360. It reminds me of XBox 1.

(and by the way my Wii passes XBox 360 within July prediction doesn't look quite so crazy now, does it?)

Words from the Official VGChartz Idiot

WE ARE THE NATION...OF DOMINATION!

The Elite has had an effect. It has incsreased the 360 sales by about 40,000 in the last two weeks. Over the previous two weeks. So there is SOME GOOD effect, but not much, and it wont continue for very long.
