Paz is not 16, she's at least in her mid twenties.

She sure doesn't look it.

But regardless still wtf bombs everywhere.

You should also look over Ground Zeroes before you move on to MSX, it doesn't really offer anything new but more or less closes off Peacewalker's story. Did you like the monster hunter mission in Peacewalker?

I'm going to wait till Phantom Pain comes along before I invest in Ground Zeroes.

There's a lot of fun references/easter eggs in Peacewalker as far as I could tell.

The whole Snake looking into the back of trucks and finding Kojima smiling in one of them was the best one.

What guy is always-off? lol MGS is really good. The story can lack in areas. Or confuse the crap out of you. I hated MGS 2 when I first played it. But I eventually liked it. It was mainly being an annoying character instead of Snake. You just need to give the series a play. Even the orignal MSX games are good.

Ocelot just felt out of place to me, but it was made clear in the ned why I got that feeling.

I'm not saying they are bad games, I just don't like the gameplay myself.  I can see why others would like it tho so I can respect that.

So basically the whole hiding aspect is what you don't really like? You could play MGS 4. It basically dropped stealth.

Hmm, maybe you should have watched them in release order. I feel like that would have more impact.

It's more of a pet pevee of mine to watch things out of order via timeline.

Perhaps I'll miss references that I won't realize until later but I think I'll be fine.

Yeah, Peacewalker is perhaps the most gamey out of the entire series with the exception of the MSX games. Works well on the PSP in my opinion though. Metal Gear 1 won't offer too much in terms of story, it's rather simplistic but worth the watch. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake however is a lot more interesting.

Get ready for retcons though.

I get you on that. I started playing MGS from the HD collection. So I got to play the games in timeline order. But people who played the games when they came out, must of been really hard on the head.

Yeah, you've just scratched the surface.  MGS2 and MGS4 are fucking insane at times.  Some love them.  Some hate them.  I hate MGS4 but others think it's the greatest game ever conceived.

MG on MSX plays pretty straight forward.  I played it for NES back in like '87 and while I enjoyed it, there was really only one twist and you already know what it is.  Either way, enjoy.  It's a heck of a series.

I play WoW.

I think I'll be fine, unless they erase a bunch of characters.

Nah, it wasn't so bad. Evert game seemed self contained and, while I'm sure he'll deny it, part of me is sure that Kojima just made up stuff to fill in the gaps much of the time.  Playing the games as they released and then going back and seeing how "X" became "Y" or seeing the little nods to other things is what made the series great.  Watching/playing the MGS games in order would be like watching Memento in order.  Still good but robbing yourself of the "experience".

One thing you'll miss in any of the MGS games are the easter eggs. There's like codec messages for every situation in MGS1,2, and 3. There's things like waiting for a boss to die of old age instead of fighting him or going to an area on a certain day only to find that all of the guards have taken the day off. Things like that just don't come through when you're watching someone else play.

I've seen my friends play MGS1 and MGS4.  I always found the story somewhat interesting (minus MGS4's nanomachines), but the gameplay never really clicked with me.  I never looked into the entire story though.  I could easily just read the entire thing via a wiki but I wanted to experience it.

So I've been watching hours upon hours of Let's Plays, watching in order of the time line.

MGS3 was first and I mostly enjoyed it.  Started with a good plot twist and never really dropped the ball story wise.  I wish'd there was more about The Boss and Snake's past tho.  I also found Ocelot very off, especially near the end.  But the after credits blew my mind and had me wanting more.

Portable Ops seemed off, not bad just off.  it felt like it was written by someone else.  I liked the cutscence style tho.  Was a bit forgettable tho.

Peace Walker was my recent viewing.....and well....while it seemed to capture MGS3's magic.....that ending......

I mean yeah the whole plot twists of "hey I was the evil boss/double crossed you" had been done and was expected....

I also am quite used to Japanese game culture, so fan-service I was used to.

But the whole 16 year old, in her underwear, in a bi-pedal tank with a nuclear warhead, monologuing about a new world order.....

That suprised me.....

And then there was a special side mission involving her on the beach...again in her underwear....where you can attempt to grope her?

Was this as big as a WTF for any of you as it was for me?

Now I'm on to Metal Gear for the MSX.

I don't expect as much crazyiness for it and its sequel but have I just touched the surface of wackyness?

If that surprised you then I'd suggest you never watch MGS2 because it gets far worse
