Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS4 has a good year ahead (vs xbox one)

The biggest game you listed (Destiny) is a multiplat. It will help PS4 somewhat because of the marketing campaign but there will also be just as many people buying it for XB1 because that is where a lot of Bungie/Halo fans will remain no matter what.

Watch Dogs is another multiplat. Having 60 minutes of exclusive content doesn't change the fact its on every other platform out there.

MLB The Show doesn't sell squat. Being the only baseball game doesn't matter because 2K was never a real option before because it was so bad and people still didn't buy The Show. Baseball video games are not popular at all.

The Last of Us remastered is not a system seller. It will sell well to existing PS4 owners but a year old port is not going to push hardware.

The Order is the only exclusive PS4 has with an actual chance to sell systems if it ends up being a great game (which is still in doubt).

Look at the sales of the franchise it always sells less then a million its not a system seller no one is going to buy a PS4 just to play MLB the Show.

That is not an answer to my question.

I say it again its not a system seller I highly doubt that anyone would buy a PS4 just for MLB the show.

Then this is what you're wrong about, if you want this kind of game then why would you not buy the PS4 for it? Now how big the group of people is that would buy a PS4 for this game is a different question, but saying such a group doesn't exist is pretty naive.

A bit of a one sided view. It will have a good year but you shouldn't count out the Xbox before you've seen E3.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

No its not the NBA and College Football are more popular and College Football is only going to get more popular since divison 1 has a small playoff now.  As for the NBA not only is it more popular in the US its miles more popular all around the world.

Not even close??? and yes its the second most popular

Basketball is not even in the top 3 in terms of popularity

All those polls are misleading just look at TV ratings and actual attandance (way more sellouts and games close to sellouts) the NBA is way ahead of MLB in both of those plus like I said before the NBA is also way more popular world wide.

How are they missleading.....baseball is ahead of basketball any way you put it. Attendance, revenue, popularity, and global popularity.

Basketball is more popular among gamers. Its all about demographics. Most baseball fans are senior citizens.

The PS4 versions of Destiny and Watch Dogs will sell better not just because of exclusive content. They will most likely have different resolutions between the PS4 and X1 versions, and it is highly implied from what we've heard from Ubisoft so far. Resolution differences have proven to influence sales greatly as seen from Tomb Raider and MGSV: Ground Zeroes.

MLB The Show have sold almost as well as the 2K series, despite the latter being multiplatform. The Show no longer has a competitor and thus, the MLB fanbase is no longer split. Is it going to sell a lot? No, but it is undeniable that because of a lack of competitor, The Show will have an impact on sales in the United States.

A lot of PS4 owners have never played The Last of Us yet, especially when a good chunk of the userbase is former 360-only users. It'll also greatly influence the consumers who have not made their minds yet on what console to buy. The remaster version is not a mere facelift. It contains several improvements like larger resolution, higher framerate, better AA, smoother shadows, and better looking  textures.

You forget that it doesn't matter how many people buy the game for this or that platform, it matters how many people buy a system for that game. Moving hardware is what matters here, cause we're talking about market share. And you can bet Destiny is going to move a lot more PS4s than XB1s. Aside from the marketing, possibilities like bundle and exclusive DLC + the beta, there's also the portion of Halo fans who gave up on the franchise after Bungie left it, and think they are better off with the superior versions of Destiny, COD and BF, than with Halo (which won't even be out by the time people jump in on Destiny) + inferior multiplats.

And I have to chuckle at anyone who thinks TLOU won't move hardware. Oh, it will.

Overall attandance mabye because most baseball stadiums hold over twice as many people and they have twice as many games but when it comes sellouts and near sellouts per game the NBA is way ahead as for overseas popularity the NBA is also way ahead.  My guess is that the NBA is more poplar just in China then the MLB is the entire rest of the world outside North America.
