That's actually a really interesting question.

I think I played FFIX first but I'm not sure anymore. I played a lot at a friends house. It could've been FFVIII. The first FF game I owned though was FFXII.

2D Sonic.

The first one i got was Sonic 2 on the game gear, wich was also my first console and console game. I remember i was a very happy little kid that day.
Anyways it certainly was a baptism by fire as the game is really difficult.

curiously the first game I played from my favorite series was the first legend of zelda, but I didn't like it! then some years later I played ocarina of time and loved it so much that I thought "woah are these really from the same series? maybe I didn't really gave it a chance" so I went back to it and bam! I started to buy every zelda game that exists
