Forums - Gaming - How Vita could have been saved in 2013

It could have been saved but it wasn't saved. There is no point in crying over spilt milk. Those are good options but there is no use in trying to correct the wrongs from the past, it's gone!

Enjoy the Vita for what it is and hope that Sony can correct everything in the E3.

I bought a Vita around launch to play brand new God Of War and GTA games, not niche Japanese exclusives.

Great Post!

Add Ratchet and Clank Nexus to the equation. The last thing is that the team that worked on Killzone should have instead been working on The Bioshock Vita game.

Essentially Sony sacrificed the Vita for the PS3 to have a great send off. With all the 3rd party titles, all the PS3 really needed was TLOU and that should have been the only AAA exclusive for the system last year.

Not sure if it was about the send off or the ps3 install base and wanting to make more money at the moment instead of thinking long term.

However they didn't make make any money on Ascension and Gran Turismo 6 anyways.

Well, I think they did. I doubt they would have sold millions on psvita since it's such a small install base (even if it increased). But one thing's for sure. They both underpeformed, so being released on vita would have been the better choice.

Both would have been better reviewed and would have had the spotlight if they were on Vita and hence would have sold better.

But Tearaway got good reviews and the spotlight and didn't sell that well. I know that the release of ps4 affected it, but I don't think it's to the extent that you seem to suggest. Bottom line is, we can't be sure how either title would have performed on the vita, but the fact that only a single title has sold over 1m so far is pretty discouraging. Of course, you could be right. I just think that we don't have anything concrete to base such an absolute statement on. I think both games would have sold well, but not more than on ps3.

I already have a pretty large backlog of games starting to form on my Vita, someone saying it doesn't have any games now is comparable to someone mockingly saying "ps3 haz no gaems" in like... 2012, there is something for every genre on the Vita, be it platforming, driving, fighting (dear god so many great fighting game ports), fps, stealth.... hell you got access to most of the psone and psp library from the store. Sony are right on the money with getting their older games onto the store, far far faster than the trickle of games onto the Nintendo Eshop.

Easter sale is on the store right now too... so not only is there tons of games, you can bag tons at a bargain. Heck mgs collection is 8.99 on the sale, so mgs2 + Mgs3 for 4euros each... on a portable with that super sexy screen. That is actually cheaper than NES games cost on the Nintendo 3ds eshop.

The key thing is that the Vita doesn't have a large amount of highly rated exclusives. Over time its built up a decent catelouge with titles like Little Big Planet, Gravity Rus, Tearaway and Sould Sacrifice, but they are far and few between (at least in the west). I agree though, ignoring exclusivity, the Vita's got a brilliant library.

Yeah they don't have to be exclusive 100% to a system to make games great, heck if you took away games which also appeared on other systems or the PC then last generation there was probably about 20 exclusive games on the xbox/ps3 over the full 7 years.

Like my sig says tbh, I never played Jak and Dexter on the ps2, picked up the trilogy on the vita because tbh I was impressed at the compression to get 3 ps2 titles onto one SD sized game card, completed the first game the other night, fantastic platformer which I woulda never played if not for having a vita..... does suffer from having a bad case of "sonic adventure" camera at times :D Doesn't bother me that some of my games are on other systems or mobile phones, I just enjoy the games I get to play.

That's the spirit! No, wait... I thought we were coming up with ways to save it in the past.

Its weird that noone is mentioning the price of the SD cards. I heard those were a bitch to buy.

I bought a vita today for 30 euros, must be a bad sign.

Yeah, it's robbed. A fairly bad sign is when you're buying stuff from the back of a hi ace down an alleyway lol.
