Forums - Sony - Sony can still salvage the Vita in the west...and here's how

The Vita is the best gaming device ever to me so its painful not to see it do well :/

I still think the system's biggest issue is advertising. Many don't know its different than the PSP, or that it even exists. It has little Mindshare in handheld gamer's minds for this reason. Not just the system, but the games need to be shown off more. So many times I have someone interested in Vita tell me "I wanna get a Vita but it doesn't look like it has many games." which infuriates me because Vita has THE MOST GAMES! It only looks like a few because stores like Gamestop have relegated the Vita sections to 7 yard long rows, 4 of which are dedicated to preowned advertising. Vita's game cases are also super small so you could have the same number of games on a shelf as console or 3DS and it looks like its less.

Of recent Sony's willingness to even try with Vita has dropped...
-Soul Sacrifice Delta came out Digital only with absolutely zero fanfare. Didn't even know it wasn't coming retail till a day or so before.
-Vita Borderlands 2 Bundle also came out on a whimper with no robust advertising.

Give it a few years and Sony can finally make the handheld gamers and shareholders want.........Vita Phone. Smartphones are starting to get rediculously huge. The miniature tech movement is dying as people move more towards robust screens. Sony could make the Vita Phone(NOT exclusive to any provider) with top touchscreen and retractable controls, can even still have back touch. It would prob be hella expensive but it also could be subsidized like all phones. Japan would be extatic and US/EU would like it as well.

None of that would get me to buy one. The only thing I want is the ability to play the games on my TV. I'm an adult that drives to work, like most adults in the midwest. A portable gaming device serves no purpose for me. The only reason I bought a PSP was because they made a SKU that I could connect to my TV.

Are you waiting for Vita TV then?

Yep. As soon as it comes over, I'll buy it immediately. Though, I wish SONY would just allow the Vita to be played on my TV somehow. If Sony phones can use miracast to do it, I don't see why the Vita can't. They could even make it do it through the PS4.

When Sony releases PlayStation Now the Vita will be a must have.

If streaming games was gonna help then Vita would have been saved as of PS4 launch.

It pains me to see Vita doing so poorly when I enjoy mine so much. Anyone with a PS4 really should have one. There are some great games too!

I also remote play FFXIV. I can't describe the coolness of playing in a hotel room while traveling. Love love love it.

that is the problem: Vita is just a expensive controller for PS4. Nothing more

I hate this attitude. I can almost guarantee you don't have a Vita. The Vita has some amazing games, especially if you like Japanese games, and its library is growing every day with more awesome titles.

You will lost the oportunity to play some exclusive games of the handheld that uses better the touch features.. like tearaway.. some games can be adapted to common physical button sets, but some others NOT.

I know, but for something that will only cost me ~$100, I'll just have to make do. Unless, you know, SONY suddenly gets some common sense and allows the VITA to brodcast to my TV.
