Forums - Gaming - What are some bold moves in gaming?

N64 Joystick, The d-pad was left on the controller in case the joystick failed, they took a risk and didn't know if the joystick would work.

DS: TWO Screens :U

Wii motion controls and design. The design of the Wii was dramatically different from any video game console and as well putting all their cards into the motion controls was a risk.

PS3 Price, much high.

I still need to play it.

Nintendo's massive price cut of the 3DS relatively soon after its launch. A bold move that really paid of sales skyrocketed soon afterwards and its dominating even more over its main competitor then the DS did.

I don't think Vita is what the market really wants though. I would go as far to say the Vita wouldn't do much better in North America or US + Canada if the 3DS didn't exist. Smart phones have taken people's priority away from dedicated hand held gaming. And people don't seem to care about high quality graphics or specs on a dedicate handheld gaming device but think its awesome on a tablet or smart phone.

It would do a lot better in Japan since Monster Hunter would return and a bunch of japanese developers would love only supporting one system. However smart phone seems are very popular in Japan as well.

Europe, I have no idea.

Sony should really remove the specialized memory storage restrictions for VIta if those still exist and go with SD cards like 3DS. I think that may actually help it sell better.

All of Nintendo's hardware moves really. The DS was bold and weird, the Wii was completely out there. Even 3DS and Wii U are pretty bold, trying to bring unexpected things to gaming systems.

Launching PS3 at $500+ was bold in a different way.

Kojima took a huge risk with that

WHAT THE FUCK, MAN!!!??? SPOILERTAG THIS KIND OF STUFF.

4 ≈ One

Kinect 2 was pretty bold. They took a pretty big risk investing so much money into the device, making it essential with the Xbox One and as a consquence pricing it $100 over it's rival.

But we're already seeing the price drop to PS4 levels?

Hey, I guess every time a new company enters the market it's a bold move. Especially with the first Nintendo systems.
