I don't think Vita is what the market really wants though. I would go as far to say the Vita wouldn't do much better in North America or US + Canada if the 3DS didn't exist. Smart phones have taken people's priority away from dedicated hand held gaming. And people don't seem to care about high quality graphics or specs on a dedicate handheld gaming device but think its awesome on a tablet or smart phone.
It would do a lot better in Japan since Monster Hunter would return and a bunch of japanese developers would love only supporting one system. However smart phone seems are very popular in Japan as well.
Europe, I have no idea.
Sony should really remove the specialized memory storage restrictions for VIta if those still exist and go with SD cards like 3DS. I think that may actually help it sell better.
