Mario Kart 7 already had this in the form of communitys (though it doesn't count towards the main GP mode, but you can customize the item settings and choose the courses), so I'd be extremely surprised if this game doesn't do something similar. The main online feature I'm hoping to see is local + online multiplayer! MKWii had this, but only for 2 local players. MK8 needs to improve on this by allowing for up to the full 4 local players to be able to play online!

I think some people have you mixed with the single player GPs where you unlock characters and earn trophies and stars etc.

You don't have to talk though, as I'm not even sure if MK8 will allow for voice chat. Maybe just between friends only.

You missed my ninja edit! Also, if you're just trying to unlock stuff, I don't see why you would want to go up against human opponents rather than computers. It'll only be harder that way, and I wanna get my Lakitu asap!
