Forums - Gaming - Is it time to make next gen the current gen?

Should we move on?

Yes, the new consoles hav... 43 72.88%

Nah, let the PS3 and 360 ... 16 27.12%

Total:59

The "next gen" consoles have been out for almost half a year (more if you count the Wii U), but people can't accept them as current gen for some reason. Even major gaming websites refer to the PS4 and Xbox One as "next gen", when they are now solidly current gen. Next gen should be the PS5, Xbox One: Two, or the Wii U successor, not consoles that have been on the market for a while. When are we going to move on?

I think its gonna take till holiday 2014 for everyone to do that... Its not necessarily cause they are doing it on purpose but rather the fact that they have to call something a different name after calling it the samething for 5+ years... Its like going from 2013 to 2014... It takes a bit to get used to it

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

They're both next and current gen while Gen 7 is now simply last gen.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

The time to do so was November 22, 2013.

8th gen is current gen, isn't it? Hell, a lot of the time, 8th gen feels almost exactly like 7th gen. First time I've ever experienced this feeling....and I don't like it.

It should have been done since 2014 started.

IVe been calling PS360/Wii Last Gen for a while now, well since that is what they are

Next-Gen is a buzz word that people like to use to separate the WiiU from the PS4/XBoxOne. That's really the only time I ever see it being used. "Next-Gen technologies," etc. Developers love throwing it out there, especially when they are referencing "Next-Gen engines," particularly in terms of what Nintendo's latest system can not do, at least according to them.

Next gen won't come out for another 4-5 more years at least for the consoles anyways. The WiiU, XBO and PS4 should have been referred to as current gen back in last November 2013. Maybe since the "previous" generation of consoles are still out in full force that the public is still referring them as "current". Maybe people don't feel that the new consoles are even relevant yet.

The Wii has already passed, and as soon as the 360 and PS3 pass as well, will people finally refer the new consoles as current gen. It all depends on how long developers fully commit to making software only for these so-called newer consoles.

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY

We are officially in the 8th gen since XOne, PS4 and Wii U are out.
