I honestly don't understand who cared about IGN in the first place, ever. The site has always been a horrible, slow mess, so it's been hard to focus on the content.

@OP
The overly praising and the overly criticizing articles used to be spread evenly between PS, Xbox, Nintendo etc. but after the PS and Nintendo teams left (reportedly because they had enough of some paid articles and restrictions on what to write) I have to agree with you that lately their journalism has been a little skewed.
IGN has had some of the same articles returning again and again the past few weeks dooming PS 1st party ("It's been a bad month for fans of Sony's Worldwide Studios"), the PS4 ("Regretting the PS4") and the Vita ("Is Borderlands Vita bad?"). This week the articles are titled "Something Weird Is Going On at Sony and Naughty Dog", "Is Borderlands 2 Vita in Trouble?", etc.
I haven't seen an article questioning the quality of anything Microsoft for a very long time as eg. "The Problem with Choice in Infamous".
Am I being delusional or could it be that it's possible to buy articles on IGN that give your competitor bad PR?
I agree. IGN has lost lost sight of their aim as a videogame website.
Terrible articles, based on rumors of rumors. Rushed reviews, lack of focus on interactive entertainment. Poorly written reports. The website has a nice interface, but lacks content.
As for Sony, well, as a company it has some good products, I personally love their cameras, but it´s been losing ground to competitors in many fronts. They really need to re-structure their business models in some areas to avoid even bigger losses. It deserved better luck on its finances, I think, but in a market as competitive as eletronics, there´s no such thing as luck.

i lost all faith in IGN when they gave How I met your mothers finale 9.7 and to top that they made video to justify the rating and the fans are over reacting.
IGN seems to be trying their best to paint the PS4 in the worst light possible. It's going to be a very rough gen for them and other people like them (Gies, leadbetter, etc). Honestly, i don't care either way. Sites like IGN are growing increasingly irrelevent. I rely mainly on gameplay video and opinions of fellow forum members for my game purchases nowadays. I find that to be a much better gauge than Site reviews
The Game Scoop discussions are sometimes good, but their reviews usually suck and it's not a good news site.

That finale was terrible. I give it a 3/10.
You know something's wrong when IGN and Gamespot's articles are becoming very similar to Kotaku's.
IGN...lol.
Says it all.
I use Twitter and follow all the major industry players, and that's how I get basically all of my game-related news. The only site I visit is Kotaku and this place. This place for sales, Kotaku for news/reviews. They are the most fair and willing to speak their mind.
