I want a game similar to RotTK but I have never been able to locate any. I love the series and want something similar. I am pretty sure nothing similar exists though. Just thought I would ask

Isn't Dynasty Warriors based around Romance of the Three Kingdoms or something? i mean, I don't think many games play like a book.
Theres actually a Romance of the Three Kingdoms game series (which Dynasty Warriors is based on) called Sangokushi too
(info from Wiki)
EDIT: Upon further inspection, I have no idea what you are asking @.@

DW is nothing like RotTK. It is only based around the same setting/story. I want a strategy game similar to RotTK but I have never seen anything even remotely similar

How different is it from Kessen? I enjoyed Kessen but it is nothing like RotTK.
Try Kessen and Kessen 2, literally based directly from RotTK

I never played Kessen 1 and 2. I have Kessen 3. Is 1 and 2 way different?
ummm I never played 3 but 2 was pretty good still worth a try if you can get it, kinda a cult classic so good luck tryin to find them.
1 was just OK not really worth the time though.
I will say DynastyWarriors is pretty fun but only with friends and maybe some mind altering substances that take liquid form ...
I'm talking about alcohol
so drink with friends and play that game.

I have been a massive fan of DW since DW2 when I got my PS2. Have bought each and every one (including XL and Empires)

Yes. Kessen 3 is different as that's more like Dynasty Warriors except you control the armies together. You can also have the AI control some armies, but when youu're controlling them it's like Dynasty Warriors. Kessen 3 is also based on Nobunaga's Ambition, not Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Kessen 2 is Romance of the Three Kingdoms based storyline. The first two games have where you have a large tactical map and you can move your characters to them, have them attack other units, etc. You can control the leader in Kessen 2, and change the odds in your favor a little bit, but not like in Kessen 3 or Dynasty Warriors. The battles in Kessen also last a longer period of time.
If you've played specifically a Romance of the Three Kingdoms game, turn based month by month, or three turns a month in Romance of the Three Kingdoms 9, then like someone else mentioned, play Nobunaga's Ambition. The PS2 Nobunaga's Ambition games Rise to Power and Iron Triangle were released in the US and have a real time system when attacking, and use the classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms style rather than the Romance of the Three Kingdoms 7 style which seems to be developed to make everything take a lot longer to do the same stuff.
My favorite game of all time is Brigandine Legend of Forsena and its remake Brigandine Grand Edition. These games are also like Romance of the Three Kingdoms but you don't have to deal with increasing morale, loyalty, etc, etc. You send allies on quests, you move them to different cities, or you attack. It's world map is similar to the world map of a Romance of the Three Kingdoms games where each area has a border and you have multiple countries fighting for domination. It's an amazing game. Read my review. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=176224&page=1
If you want a game that is somewhat like Kessen 2 and 3 mixed together, but a little bit closer to Kessen 3, then you will probably like Bladestorm the 100 Year War. It's made by Koei for the PS360 and it's pretty much Kessen except it's based in France during the late middle ages. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UCCA4XZVDI
