Forums - Sales - Global HW+SW 15th march. XB1>PS4. TitanFall XB 900k! Dark Souls 800K! PS4 67%+ in UK!

I think the XB1 did very well did week, but I'm a little disappointed in the software sale... was hoping for 700k + globally. Now I want to see how it does on the 360.

Except 21% isn't a majority. 79% expected a sub 90 score. Saying 21% is a majority is extreme spinning.

Or someone who realizes that majority and pluraility are often used as synonyms.

Definitely not in this case...
He was making it seem as if most people thought infamous would get 90+. Almost 80% thought it would not.

Oh whatever, highest percentage, majority, it was the wrong wording. You know what I meant. The most votes for one of the choices was "more than 90". Now the poll is even more inconclusive because the actual metacritic isn't even a choice.

Considering 90+ included 10 possible score and each of the other reasonable ones only included 2, it's not that hard to see why...

For example, let's look at how many thought 81-90: 71.6%. That's compared to 20.99% who thought 91-100...

81-90 isn't a choice. Below 80 has 79 possible scores though.

Nice but far from impressive. The fact the "supposed" game of a generation did not move more console is disapointing. Not sold out at one place close by.

I guess its still good, but just not impressive, I had much bigger numbers in mind.

RIP ps3, xbox360.

welcome home ps4 and X1

the downplay is pretty hefty, the 180 machine vs the saviour of gaming

I wouldn't call it downplay. Roughly four months after launch and looking at the numbers, we see that XBox One has basically retreated into its two main markets: NA and UK. And in both markets, the console loses money ($450 with free game in both areas) to stay ahead. That is not really encouraging at this time.

That is not how it works. No one is losing money with Titanfall bundles.

Who are you trying to fool? Most teardowns seen list manufacturing costs of the X1 around $500 (and these might be generous estimates).

You are telling me that selling a console/game bundle for $450 (that includes taxes and store margins in UK) , nobody loses money?

Yes.

And if you think the XOne costs Microsoft 500 to manufacture you are delusional, the highest a saw a teardown was about U$475 and that is debatable... any way, most of then are guesstimation.

PS: by the way the bundle costs U$499... pricing at 450 would be still a good call for Microsoft, but that might strech the EA margins.

if you think the $500 retail price all goes to MS's manufacturing costs you are just as delusional.

start with those tear downs.  then add in shipping costs.  then subtract the retailer's margin.  then subtract EA's cut (cause as you know they get payed for every game sold as part of a the bundle).   ...and for now we're not even considering all the sunk costs in R&D.

MS is losing money on the hardware right now i promise you.  MS didn't pick a $500 MSRP because they wanted to make a $50 profit on every unit sold,... they priced it to be as competitive as they could afford without losing too much money.  by taking an extra ~$30 hit on every titanfall bundle i assure you MS is losing money atm.

Not if you need Xbox Live to play Titanfall ;)

no no you can only use that argument for PS+, using it the other way around is not allowed

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

One has 300,000+ servers to build and keep up, the other does not

Did you know that alot of the ps3 manufacturing numbers went into server parks sony owns?

we should deduct those from sales to consumers

Sorry, you were lead to belive in incongruity. Most teardown don´t took in consideration the production volume and pre-arrenged licensing.

You can´t say the AMD GPU on the XOne costs the same than a retail similar one, it costs far less, much worst addind it the CPU price.

And the bundle it self dosen´t cost a thing to produce a new dowloadable code, even if it was a Bluray it would add a few cents for printing a large volume. It´s unlimited but for a agreement for EA.

Let´s not forget that a good percentage of people buying Titanfall will also get de season pass or some DLC.

Again, no one is losing money at any time with the Titanfall bundle, if it makes you fell better if you think otherwise, you are free to belive in whatever you want, but you can´t hide from the truth.

I said the same thing to someone else but know who you put your effort in replying towards, you have the people who are resorting to silly and farfetched points and people who are open for serious debate.

you should make that decision yourself, but really its quite easy

1. 81-90 isn't a choice. 2. Below 80 has 79 possible scores though.

1. I know. The point was that most people thought it would land in the 81-90 range (72%), while you were making it seem as if 21% thinking 90+ was proof of really high expectations.

2. That's why I said "each of the other reasonable ones". Sucker Punch scores are usually pretty stable in the 80-90 area. You might say that there are about 10 scores sub 80 that are reasonable. Sub 70 is definitely not.

But exactly how reasonable is 90 up if they are usually rated 78-85
