if you think the $500 retail price all goes to MS's manufacturing costs you are just as delusional. start with those tear downs. then add in shipping costs. then subtract the retailer's margin. then subtract EA's cut (cause as you know they get payed for every game sold as part of a the bundle). ...and for now we're not even considering all the sunk costs in R&D. MS is losing money on the hardware right now i promise you. MS didn't pick a $500 MSRP because they wanted to make a $50 profit on every unit sold,... they priced it to be as competitive as they could afford without losing too much money. by taking an extra ~$30 hit on every titanfall bundle i assure you MS is losing money atm. |
Sorry, you were lead to belive in incongruity. Most teardown don´t took in consideration the production volume and pre-arrenged licensing.
You can´t say the AMD GPU on the XOne costs the same than a retail similar one, it costs far less, much worst addind it the CPU price.
And the bundle it self dosen´t cost a thing to produce a new dowloadable code, even if it was a Bluray it would add a few cents for printing a large volume. It´s unlimited but for a agreement for EA.
Let´s not forget that a good percentage of people buying Titanfall will also get de season pass or some DLC.
Again, no one is losing money at any time with the Titanfall bundle, if it makes you fell better if you think otherwise, you are free to belive in whatever you want, but you can´t hide from the truth.
