Forums - Sony - So Infamous is a flop: why did Sucker Punch fail?

I predicted this months ago, this game was all about the hype. I was expecting myself 85 or so.. well, more reasons to wait a few years until the ps4 builds its library.

Maybe, just maaaaaaybe this is the shift we have all awaited in that reviewers wont be dishing out inflated scores and its our expectations based on previous reviews that have left us "disappointed"

Who the fuck am I kidding, moneyhat!!!!!!

I read reviews and from what I can tell, gameplay is ace, sense of city is ace, and style is ace. If this were a game like TLOU and it was cheesy dialogue and poor story I'd put more weight into the "score"

Honestly after reading the reviews it sounds AAA aside from the number that the individual put on it. With Titanfall I read the reviews and expected a lower score. I think its just absurdly difficult to apply a numerical value when there is no standardization for such ratings. there is no method, no coherant weight involved. I wish reviews would just write a review and be done and let us decide.

At least we can finally agree that X1 has the better library at the moment.

Opinions, how do they work?

Classic fallback response ;)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Simple question, difficult answer. With the recent metacritic reviews coming in Infamous Second Son has an average of 81; or a flop by AAA game standards. Where did Sucker Punch go wrong? It's obvious that the 54 critics on metacritic all agreed with one thing: The story sucks.

It's a shame really. But I guess with Titanfall failing to be a great game with a score of 90+, we should have expected this. The next gen simply isn't very next gen if it can't even produce 90+ games on Metacritic because as we all know; great games must have at least a 90+ score to be great.

Put simply: Infamous: Second Son is a flop; as is Titanfall. I guess we're still waiting for the first truely "next gen game".

Discuss why Infamous is a flop in your opinion.

*Disclaimer: I have not played infamous nor Titanfall. I am simply assuming they are bad games based on their subpar 90 meta-scores as most gamers should*

Um.....Xbox fans predicted Titanfall to score exactly where it is.

Really? I wasn't following TF but after all the hype from both gaming media and Xbox fans I expected an easy 90+ meta. Maybe after playing the beta people knew it's not that good.

We rightfully predicted that a lacking campaign would hold it back.

Both of them don't have anything worthwhile at the moment so I don't see the point in your cheerleading ...

the start of the generation is the only time xbox fans can cheerlead lol.

once the timed exclusives wash away and Sony bring out the games on long developement cycles, its over.

So essentially: Just wait? My favourite saying of 2007.

A fucking 81!? Preorder canceled cuz Metacritic is god!

If you want to make any Metacritic score more reliable, when all reviews have been released, remove the TOP 10 reviews and the 10 Bottom reviews, so that you have a more reliable score, removing some fake 5/10 or 4/10(example), and also removing some 'easy' 9.5 or 10.    So that most of 'fake' 9.5-10/10 and 'fake' 4-6/10 to get some attention and spot, are removed.  Try to do it with both Titanfall and Infamous, and you will have a score which reflects better the value of the game.

Oh I do. Bias always wins out. But at least objectively a Xbox fan can make the case that it has a superior AAA retail selection over the PS4.

Only Wii U delivers, apparently.
