I'll keep it simple as possible
- Do you like a chronological order story or a novel that has many short stories that cross one another? , for example it starts with a young character and ends up with them being old, or it starts with different characters in different timelines and the more you read about those characters the more some other chapters make sense
- Do you like a "POV character" storyline or third person narration type?
- Do you like a "Protagonist/Antagonist" type (like Harry Potter) of structure or more focus on the world itself (like Song of ice and fire)
- Do you -and especially in SCIFI- like that the author goes into deep detail in things like ship brands and weapon types? , things that doesn't really relate to the story just make it more immersive for example "She picked up the device there was an "IFruit" logo etched on it, it was a cellular device made by a company called Pear and not long ago it was heavily marketed toward a rather trendy audience, with it's over the top design and flashy looks, it is no wonder that every one in the far corners of the earth owns one of these, but to Jane she prefered the more advanced Robo, another cellular device made by Gagwell" or "She picked up the device there was an "iFruit" logo etched on it, she stood up and did the hoedown"
- Do you like when every device or item the characters use / find is detailed? for example in borderlands every weapon you find is manufacted by a company and these companies compete with each other, same with Armored Core.
- Do you like the Aliens vs Humans storyline? or Humans vs Humans (no aliens whatsoever)?
- Do you like Scifi that is over the top (Star Wars) or Dues Ex-like believable ?
- Do you like Wheel Of Time or Song of Ice and Fire?
